Well what can we say? The most prolific midfielder in Europe. His ability to tidy up play from all over the field and lead the counter attack is second to none.Roy Keane began his footballing career with irish division 1 side Cobh Ramblers in Cork before moving to the Uk to join Nottingham Forest. It was here that Forest manager Brian Clough took him under his wing, and he became one of the most promising midfielders in England.

As a result Manchester United then paid a record fee of £3.75 million for Roy. He won his first cap for the Republic of Ireland against Chile on May 22nd 1991. Now captain of club and country, winning Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League in 1999. Double player of the year in England in 2000.Roy adores his country and this is obvious when you watch him play at international level.He first captained Ireland against Russia in 1996 - a game in which he was sent off in - though he didn't take the role full time until 1998

Position: Midfield. However Roy can be found just about anywhere on the park carrying out his duties as captain. He is one, if not the only midfielder capable of completing these task's consistently in Europe.His best performance in a green shirt under Jack was undoubtedly in Spain during the 0-0 draw in the US 94 qualifying series. Even Diego Maradonna watching from the stands in Seville, wanted to know "who is that fiery Irishman?"
