Location: Cedar Grove Fairmount Park Philadelphia Time: the Present Cedar Grove is one of several historic homes and mansions that dot the landscape of Fairmount park just minutes from center city Philadelphia. It was originally built in 1746 as a summer home in the Frankford - Harrowgate neighborhood for Elizabeth Paschal, a widow with three children. At the time the Frankford area was well known for it's mineral springs but with the arrival of industry in the late 19th century, the rural charm of the area was soon changed for ever. Three generations of Quaker families ,the Coates, Paschall and Morris clans called Cedar Grove home until 1926 when the house was dismantled stone by stone and reassembled in Fairmount Park . By all accounts life was harmonious at Cedar Grove with no eventful tragedies to report, the house was always full of children and family life, so why is a ghost of a young woman haunting the second floor?, There have been reports of whispering and girlish giggles coming from the upper floor and the sound of what sounds like the light patter of bare feet walking across bare wood floors , who is this that still resides in the unseen world at Cedar Grove? Could there be a clue on a window in a bedroom on the second floor where someone has scratched into the glass, "CHARMING AND ACCOMPLISHED SALLY APTHORP FROM BOSTON BORN 1760" ???? Ever see a ghost?A UFO ? Or any other paranormal experiance, drop us a line if you would like to see it on line.E-MAIL kellydrive@webtv.net em> b> |
