TOPLACE                                                ORDER FORM  GUIDE

To purchase a hairpiece  that is the most appropriate for your needs, you will have to understand the different components that go into the making of it. Think of this as an assembly line process.

An Hairpiece  is made by taking an exact contoured pattern of the balding area of the persons head and making a working template from that pattern. All heads are differents so a new template must be made according to each and every pattern.Since the key to the success of a hair replacement system is its fit, the base must correspond to the head shape and original hairline recession. Making a tape template of the head, which can be seen through and drawn upon, is an ideal way to develop a pattern for such a base and  to make the proper hairpiece

 MAKING A TEMPLATE

Place an 18" square of clear plastic wrap so that it covers the top portion of the head. After pressing the wrap close to the head, use tape to contour the head shape. Beginning at the forehead, place transparent tape on the wrap, over what will become the outer perimeters of the pattern. These outer perimeters are determined by the areas of baldness

After you have taped the boundaries cover the inner portion of the plastic wrap with overlapping pieces of tape. Apply three layers of tape. The tape will lock the plastic wrap into a permanent transparent tape template

Using a Sharpie permanent marker , draw pattern lines on the tape template while it is still on your head. Though requirements vary from customer to customer, some rules of thumb apply to most. A Front hairline should usually be established by placing three or four fingers (depending on your age) above the brow line. Lines are drawn from that point to form a pattern which covers the bald area. Deeper recessions look most natural. After the entire outer perimeter of the pattern is drawn, the desired style should be indicated. If a part is desired, draw a line from a pivot point at the back crown to the front hairline. Placement of the pivot point should correspond to what can be seen of your original growth. Indicate the probable growth pattern on the tape template, the date the tape template is made, as well as other pertinent information concerning the custom hairpiece

After you have finished marking the tape template, add one more layer of tape (now four) to cover and seal in the markings. After your mold is complete please take at least 2 small locks of hair from your scalp and indicate what part of the head they were taken from, this will help us to accurately match your hair's natural color.(If you can provide your color code this step is not necessary.). Please send your completed tape template, as well as color samples or color code to our office. Your tape template will be kept on file for all future orders. All custom orders will be complete within 5-6 weeks from the the date we receive your package

If for some reasons you can't send us a template just send at least your measurements. Or If you send us your used hairpiece we can make an exact copy of it.

For men:
1) Place three to four fingers above the eyebrows and locate with a pen dot the beginning of the natural hairline.
2) Measure from that point backwards to the beginning of the present hairline
3) Measure from the beginning hairline (side to side) across top of the head.
For women:
Side measurement is done like men's above. However, front to back is different. Because women typically thin in front but don't recede like men do, it is wise to use the natural bang and add hair behind it. (Some men may choose to do this technique also). Start your measurement about 1 inch behind natural front hairline, going over the top to back as far as it needs to cover the thin area.

The basic structure of an hairpiece can be broken down into the following components and customers can always mix and match the different variables within each component to create their  ideal hairpiece:

BASE
For base we mean the material on which the hair of the hairpiece has been incorporated. Everyone has a different lifestyle and consequently there are several different types of bases:

Lace
Lace is the most undetectable material used in hairpieces these days.
Once placed on your scalp, there is no discernable netting to signal that the hair on your head is not the hair you were born with. The lace foundation disappears as it touches your skin.

SFS Super Fine Swiss Lace:  is the thinnest and most delicate lace available and can be used for the front hairline, it can also be used for the entire base but #64 French Lace is recommended with a Super Fine Swiss Lace front.Virtually invisible.

#18 Swiss Lace : is a little thicker than the Super Fine Swiss but does dissappear on the scalp very well and is more durable than the Super Fine Swiss.Undetectable

#64 French Lace: is a good choice especially for bases. It is very durable and has good dissappearing qualities on the front hairline as well. It is available in bleached white, pink, orange yellow, tan, brown, black colors. If matched in proper color  with the own skin tone  is undetectable as much as #18 Swiss Lace.

Lace in the front:

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Most natural
  • Glued down well is undetectable both to the sight and touch
  • Delicate material
  • Need periodic mantainance
  • Short life span (6 months)

Lace in the base:

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Most breathable
  • Lightweight and confortable
  • Glued down well is undetectable both to the sight and touch
  • Delicate  material
  • Less easy mantainance  than thinskin
  • Short life span (6 months)

Lace + Thinskin Polystrip (around sides and back)
Thinskin Polystrip is used around the perimeter of lace bases so glue or tape can be applied. It is very thin and  difficult to detect it with touch.

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Tapes and strong adhesives can be used on the polystrip
  • Polystrip is more detectable to the touch than lace

Lace + Polygauze (around sides and back)
Polygauze is used around the perimeter of lace bases so glue or tape can be applied. It is more durable and thicker than thinskin and  a little more detectable to the touch.

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Tapes and strong adhesives can be used on the polygauze
  • Polygauze is more detectable to the touch than polystrip

Lace front + Thinskin base

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Natural frontal hairline
  • Easy and short mantainance with tapes and strong adhesives
  • Thinskin  base is less breathable than lace and can't accept hair density over 85%

Lace front + Polyskin base

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Natural frontal hairline
  • Easy and short mantainance with tapes and strong adhesives
  • Resistent base
  • Polyskin base is less breathable than thinskin and more detectable to the touch

Thinskin
Thinskin is a very thin poly material and can be used for bases and fronts. This type of base looks very natural when hair is injected into it. Thinskin can also be used around the perimeter of lace bases so tape can be applied to it. It is very thin and is very difficult to detect it with touch.

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Easy and short mantainance with tapes andr strong adhesives
  • Natural appearence also in the frontal area
  • Longer life span (8-12 months)
  • Less breathable than lace
  • Less natural than lace in the frontal area
  • Can't accept hair density over 85%

Polyskin
This base is constructed of a thin layer of permeable skin  whereby the hair is injected or knotted into it at pre-determined angles to replicate the lift and naturalness of real hair.More durable, resistent and  thicker material than thinskin and can be used for heavy hair densities. Injected and knotted hair into polyskin again does look very natural, but is easier to detect to the touch than thinskin.

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Easy and short mantainance with tapes and strong adhesives
  • Accept heavy hair densities
  • Ideal for very extended wear
  • Longer life span (1-2 years)
  • Less breathable than lace
  • Less detectable to the touch than thinskin
  • Not a good choice as base in the frontal area for a natural-looking hairline

Fine Mono in the base
Fine monofilament base allows the scalp to breath easily and provides good natural look.More strong and  durable than lace.

 ADVANTAGES

 DISADVANTAGES

  • Excellent breathability
  • Accept heavy hair densities
  • Good Life span (1 year)
  • Hair knots don't need to be bleached
  • Less natural to the touch than lace
  • Less durable than polyskin
  • Not a good choice as base in the frontal area for a natural-looking hairline

Other Combinations: We can make any designs and use any materials that the expensive retailers use.Virtually any combination of materials can be used to create a unique and individual design. If you have your own good idea for the base, please do not hesitate to let us know.

HAIR

Hair Sample.

Cut a sample from the sides or back of your hair - 1.00" long, and if possible. as thick as a pencil. It will be easier for us to match your own hair sample! If the color and texture of your hair is different in different areas of your head then send a sample for each area.

Hair Density
Hair density is simply how many hairs are added to your hair system  base. In the old days, high density was necessary because the base materials were usually made of thicker materials and would be easily exposed if hair density were low. Nowadays, with the advance of thinner base materials such as lace and thinskin low density tends to look more natural especially with the see through look along the hairlines. You can chose different hair density in different areas of the base.

Curl and Wave Hair
Curl size is expressed in millimeters (1 mm = 0.04 inch). The higher the curl size in millimeters the straighter the hair. The very slightest wave, called  "Body Wave" is barely detectable in the hairpiece.  You can only see very large, slight waves.  It seem to help your hair remember the way you comb it.  When you comb it wet, and then let it dry in your own style,  the body wave seems to keep your set better.

Hair Style
Freestyle: if you want the flexibility of moving the part from time to time, or no part at all.  With freestyle, there's not really a tendency of the hair to go in any certain direction. If you're not sure,  about what style to chose, you can simply sketch some hair onto the pattern you send us, or draw a paper sketch of the way your hair looks or send a photo of the hairstyle you want to achieve.

Hair length
Lenght is entirely at the customer's discretion during the first cut in for the hairpiece. However, if you would like hair length longer than 7 inches, then you may have to order that in advance.

Hair Knotting and Bleaching
Natural single hair knotting is standard on all Toplace front hairlines unless otherwise requested. All Bleached knots  is standard on an  all lace base unless otherwise requested:some people like to bleach their own knots, but factory bleaching is strongly recommended.

Remy Hair
It is cut from one persons head & sewn in the same direction hair naturally grows. The cuticle is just like nature intended it to be. Texture is silky soft with subtle waves. Cuticle hair is created by careful processing which leaves the cuticle layer of the hair in place. The result is a superior hair item that colors beautifully - it has the highlights and natural shading just like your hair. The majority of human hair sold in the industry is non-cuticle hair. The hair cuticle has been stripped by using an acid-bath..Remy hair is stronger.Nicest feel and touch. It is soft and has a finer feel to it. Remy hair lasts longer, keeps vitality and elastisity, colors better (enhancing color consistency over 95% to that of synthetic- fiber), easier to comb and it curls better. The most impressive advantage of Remy hair is tangle-free and longer life.

ACCESSORIES

Attachment refers to how the hair system is attached to your scalp or balding area. The two most commonly used attachment methods are double sided tapes and liquid adhesives.Which product to use is just a matter of preference. In most cases, customers can use either the tape or the bonding or even a combination of both depending on the customer's lifestyles and the type of bases.. If someone is very active and constantly engages in sports or lives in extreme climatic conditions (wind, rain, strong sun, ecc) then it is important to choose an attachment that offers the maximum hold. On the other hand, if someone is more concerned about breathability of the scalp and being able to cleanse the scalp on a regular basis, then it is important to choose an attachment method that allows easy clean up and maintenance.  Tapes are doublefaced. They are sticky on both sides  and they have a backing that must be peeled off and are generally suited for daily or short term use where the customer can remove the hair system and the tapes at night and reattach the next day. This allows for daily clean up of the scalp and the hair system. Liquid adhesives are generally more suitable for extended wearing for over a couple of days or even longer.

Adhesives

Toplace Flesh Glue: A water-based white cream that dries clear and without shine.Used mostly on the lace front and can give up to 7 days hold.

White Glue:Goes on white dries clear. Apply to scalp and while still wet apply hair piece and press down with brush, then quickly remove hair piece and let dry for 5 minutes for extra hold apply second coating, scalp and hp must be free from oil and clean

"I" Glue: Use on lace or poly gives a hold of 3 days to 1 week on lace and upto 4 weeks on poly. Apply to scalp and while still wet apply hair piece and press down with brush, then quickly remove hair piece and let dry for 5 minutes for extra hold apply second coating, scalp and hp must be free from oil and clean

Ultra-hold: Excellent medical grade formulated acrylic adhesive.Used mostly on poly and is regarded as the strongest adhesive available holding up to 4 weeks. Can also be used on lace for a strong hold, but does give a little shine through the lace.

Mity Tite: Medical grade formulated acrylic adhesive. It is a soft bond extended wear adhesive not as strong as Ultra-Hold but does hold for up to 3-4 weeks on poly, Again can be used on lace but again gives a little shine through lace.

Super Grip Adhesive: Goes on white and dries clear, can be used to reactivate tape, for use with lace, first apply Scalp Protector, let dry, than apply Super Grip

Tapes

Contoured Tape
is available in many contours (A, AA, B, BB, C, CC and D).It's ideal for attaching the entire front and sides/back.
Tape Rolls are ideal for cutting lengths of tape to your exact specifications.

All Lace support tapes 7mm, 4mm, Pink Royal Lace Support Tape: Can be placed onto the lace under hair density to give a little more hold, but should be used right at the front hairline as they will show through. They all can be used on poly perimeters and give a medium for up to 3 days.

Dura-Flex
This all new transparent tape is one of the strongest, most durable double-sided tape on the market today. It can last up to 3-4 weeks without the use of other adhesives. This product consists of a fiber filled hypoallergenic pressure-sensitive adhesive. The transfer adhesive is supplied on a tan paper liner. The adhesive thickness measures a nominal 5-mil.Expect a  3 weeks bonding.

Scalp Protector
If you are have sensitive skin, oily skin or excessive perspiration it helps to prevent irritation of scalp due to tape, excess unit wear, adhesives, allergic reaction. It forms a tough, thin, protective barrier which will wear off gradually over 2 to 3 days but will not dissolve in the scalp's perspirations. The tape and adhesives will adhere better and last longer. It helps to prevent tape from getting gummy.

Orange Glue melter: Fast acting on flesh glue but gentle to skin.Avoid contact with eyes.

Lace Release: This solvent reduces the chance of damaging lace frontal .Adhesive residue remains on scalp not on hairpiece. Non-oily
