Write a personal letter of apology on behalf of the people of Western Australia to the people of Hungary whose lives and livelihood have been affected by a cyanide spill into the Tisza river emanating from a mining project in Romania partly owned by a Western Australian company

WHY?

I was born and live in Western Australia. I have been planning to visit Hungary since Septmber last year. As usual I would be hitching across the country thanks to the goodwill of the Hungarian people. In January when the cyanide spill occured I removed Hungary from my itenerary because I thought a West Australian would not be so popular in Hungary. Now I have changed my mind and I want the people of Hungary to know that the actions, attitude and denial of the Esmeralda Mining Company does not reflect the views held by the West Australian people, especially me.
