Coco Meringue first appearance on stage was at the 2000 Jacaranda Queen Pageant, where she made her debut with her rendition of Macy Grey's "I Try". She was an instant success, thus becoming the New Millennium Babe!For the next couple of years shewas certainly the flavour de jour.

Coco Meringue spent much of 2001 polishing her skills as a Drag Diva. She appeared at all the gayZIM parties at La Vanhu during that year, wowing the crowd with her repertoire, which ranges from Anastacia, Diana Ross, Pink, ABBA (Who could forget her "Chiquitita?), Samantha Mumbo and Marilyn Monroe. In fact, after her glittering performance of the latter's " Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend " at Diva Divine's 25th Birthday Party, some fans have begun to call her Marilyn Moyo.

We asked Coco Meringue how she became fabulous: "I went to the 1995 Jacaranda Queen at the Harry Margolis Hall. I was still pretty much in the closet. I saw The Lemming Sisters perform, and I immediately knew that I wanted to do drag. They were inspirational."

It took a while for Coco to build up the confidence, but she was ready by 2000 when Diva asked her to perform at Jacaranda Queen. Now she cannot wait to get on to the stage, at any and every opportunity. She likes performing torch songs and really likes the R 'n'B divas. "One of my best times ever was taking Lil' Kim's role in the Moulin Rouge version of Lady Marmelade at the 2001 Jacaranda Queen. There we were, me, Celeste, Yvonne & Diva Divine. Fabulous!"

2002 was a very busy year for Coco who was the resident Drag Diva at the Matrix, performing hits as diverse as IIO's "Rapture" to Aretha's "Say a Little Prayer". At the 2002 Jacaranda Queen Pageant, she brought the house down with her amazingly energetic rendition of Tina Turner's "Rock me Baby". At the end of the year, she participated in the Celeste Crackerjack Christmas Show in December where she was as sensational as ever. In early 2003, she starred in the Stupid Cupid Valentine's Party at the Matrix. After the Matrix closed it's doors, there were not many opportunities for her strut her stuff. She gave a very mediocre performance at the 2003 Jacaranda Queen. Many say it's because she fell out with her manager. She has not been seen since.
