Excuse my French, but...this book kicks ass! It is soooooo good! Unfortunately, no Alanna or George yet, but there's a lot of great stuff with Daine and her - ahem - "friends" from Dunlath. (though I almost cried when they started talking about how to kill Stormwings...)
In this book Kel becomes a woman, physically, though she's still only twelve by the end of it. Wish she'd grow up, it only took Alanna too books to reach eighteen. And a half ;)
Anyway, there is some good romance in here, though it's kind of a love quadrangle...Cleon likes her, she likes Neal (hey, this is T.P. and he is five years older than her, what do you expect?) who has a crush on Uline. Who's engaged. Well, they'll all sort it out in the end, they always do. Poor clueless Kel. Oh, and another thing...does anyone else think that Joren likes her? Maybe it's just me and the thing I have for jerks, but he did seem a tad...flirty. Weird.
Best Quote:
"I suppose he could have changed," Neal said dryly. "I myself have notived my growing resemblance to a daffodil." The other pages snorted.
Kel eyed her friend. "You do look yellow around the edges," she told him, her face quite serious. "I hadn't wanted to bring it up."
"We daffodils like to have things brought up," Neal said, slinging an around her shoulders. "It reminds us of spring."
"Does dung remind you of spring, too, Princess Flower?" Cleon demanded irritably. "You needn't manhandle our Kel like that."
Kel peeled Neal's arm away. "Thanks, but no thanks," she told him, hoping he didn't notice that her breath came quicker, or that her heart pounded like a drum. "I don't want to crush your petals."
"Crush mine all you like, fair lady," Cleon told her, putting an arm around her shoulders in Neal's stead.
Owen wriggled between Kel and Neal and wrapped an arm around Kel's waist. "Me too," he said, grinning up at her.
Best Part: Wyldon compliments Kel
Saddest Part: Not really any sad parts to this one...except for me, reminiscing about You-Know-Who during the Dunlath visit. (You-Know-Who - I haven't read Harry Potter for awhile, I used to jump whenever I heard that phrase just because of...well, you know who.)
Scariest Part: Poor Lilasa's treatment. *shudder*
