HIRAYA in concert OCTOBER 2001 Watch out for it! |
… weaving warm voices into perfect harmonies with unique choral arrangements – the distinct sound of the Filipino all-male chorus as never before heard by most: this is what we call HIRAYA. |
ABOUT HIRAYA | OUR MUSIC | THE MEMBERS | HOW TO REACH US
HIRAYA is a Filipino Male Vocal Ensemble formed on January 2000. It was part of its choirmaster and founder
Alfred John de Veyra’s vision to form a choir that specializes in all-male repertoire. Having been a member of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, Alfred realized that the all-male repertoire is an untapped yet rich source of music compared to mixed choir pieces. The Filipino audience deserves to hear this different sound. Thus, HIRAYA was born.Since its successful debut concert last November 2000 to a packed audience at the Don Francisco Santiago Hall, PCI Bank Tower, HIRAYA is starting to emerge as the country’s premiere all-male chorus. The group is becoming more and more popular in singing for different functions --- weddings, book launching, exhibit openings, and other special occasions.
Our Artistic Philosophy
We will sing and make music that
We will explore new music and discover the joys and diversity of the all-male choral and vocal repertoire.
We will be disciplined and committed to our art and to the efforts and vision of our group.
Through our shared love for singing and performing, we will build friendships and become like a family to each other.
Above all, we will have fun. And we will bring fun and inspiration to all who come and share our music with us.
