out what's going on: Abortion - March 2000 By: Abby I look around at some of the stuff that's going on in this world and I'm going, What the heck is wrong with some people? I read USA Today and I read horrific stories of girls abandoning their babies. After I read some statistics, I can't keep reading because my imagination is waaaay too active. It just makes me sick to my stomach. I wonder, how could someone not want to get to know their kid? Do any of you ever wonder what your kids will be like? I mean, they're gonna have parts of YOU inside of them. And even if you CAN'T get to know your kid, you can't take care of him/her for some reason, how could you not want them to, if not only SURVIVE, to have a good home (most people would do that much for a puppy!). Then there's abortion. Have any of you actually thought about exactly what abortion is? One out of *three* children are killed by abortion. Definition in Webster's Dictionary: The termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. The dictionary says that the embryo "dies". How can something die, if it was *supposedly* never alive???? Well... maybe it IS alive! Even if the embryo is not a baby yet (which I believe he/she is), it has the potential to be a baby! If there's ANY chance that it could ever possibly be a baby, I say it ought to be illegal, and it ought to be murder. Here is something I found while researching for this article. It's about a LEGAL procedure, and it's called partial-birth abortion(not for the weak-stomach OR the tender heart): During the debate, Santorum and his allies have shown medical charts and drawings of the partial-birth abortion. They show an unborn child being partly extracted from the womb feet first, scissors inserted in the skull and the brain removed to collapse the head before the unborn child is killed. (Ref: http://www.prolifeinfo.org/pba.html ) I think this is would be completely terrible if people were doing this *every once in a while*... and/or it was illegal. But this stuff is legal, folks. If you follow the above link, you'd see how a Pennsylvania senator, Rick Santorum, is trying to pass a ban on these Partial Birth Abortions. Talk to your parents about this - and get them to talk to your Senator! Or better yet, write a letter yourself. It makes me ashamed that we live in a country where not even two thirds of the Senate think this ought to be illegal. Links
