KAMPI pushes for mass resignation, snap elections

Echoing the call of bringing down the whole government, members of the militant Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Manggagawang Pilipino (KAMPI) today joined the mass action led by SANLAKAS and BMP at the People Power Monument in EDSA to appeal to Cardinal Sin to similarly call for the ouster of all elected officials.

KAMPI national chair Erwin Puhawan said, "We are one with the masses in calling for Erap's ouster as he is the worst calamity that has ever hit the country but we also stress that his ouster would not be enough. The people must know that neither of the two warring factions of the elite ruling class, LAMP and LAKAS, can deliver the promise of a better life for the people. Hence, we call for their resignation as all of them are similarly fraudulent and corrupt."

"We believe that the best option for the nation's renewal, after their resignation, is the establishment of an interim government to be headed by Chief Justice Hilarion Davide. This caretaker government, then, will push for political and electoral reforms paving the way for a snap election. The people shall be the one to decide in the end. We heed the church and other progressive people's organizations to listen."

"Our call is simple and clear. Let us not be fooled into believing that the opposition has the answer. For if Erap will be the only one to resign, we actually have nothing to gain." ###
