'Attack of the mall rats'
Clarifying their group's call for thorough reforms in the government, militant members of the Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Manggagawang Pilipino (KAMPI) undertook a siege at Glorietta 4 this afternoon to open a third option for the public regarding the current political crisis.
The Makati mall rats as their audience, the activist-students displayed the letters comprising their statement "RESIGN ALL!" as they went down on one of the the escalators.
Erwin Puhawan, KAMPI National Chairperson, said "The public must know that the two options (Erap/Gloria) given by the elite and the bureaucracy is making the people choose between a monster and a vampire. So a third way is what the populace need and this is radical reformation."
"These reforms shall have prerequisites: mass resignation of all elected officials, establishment of an interim government that will eventually push for the much-needed political and electoral policy-changes and, finally, a snap election so that the people may decide in the end."
The group also cleared out that their posited election is far distant from the one Senator Juan Ponce Enrile filed before the senate.
"The snap election we are pressing for is very much different to the version of Sen. Enrile. The Enrile variant is not actually for changes but for reaffirming the plebeians' support towards the president."
"Our proposed snap election is too far from being in such a role. Our snap election is for betterment and for empowering public decision." Puhawan ended. ###
