Goodbye ... Or See You Later!

Their new single may be called "Goodbye", but that doesn't mean the Spice Girls are splitting up ... or does it? TV HITS caught up with girls for this heart to heart...

OK! First things first - you've called your single "Goodbye". Does this mean you're breaking up?
Mel B:
Although the song is called "Goodbye", the chorus is actually "goodbye my friend, this is not the end." So for all those people who think we're breaking up - we're not! It's a very sentimental song that means a lot to us. It's about everything that has happened this year, with Geri leaving.

Now that you're finally back home after months on the road, what are you looking forward to doing over the next few months?
Mel C:
Christmas definately, and lots of presents!
Mel B: Yeah, that's what I can't wait for either, I love it!
Emma: Christmas will be lovely this year, I hope!
Mel C: Actually, I think I speak for everyone when I say we're so happy ... we've been touring for so long it can be quite tough.

Apart from missing friends and family, what's the hardest thing about touring?
Mel C:
Creasy clothes! (laughs)
Victoria: Actually that does my head in - all the packing and unpacking!
Mel B: Yeah, living out of a suitcase can be stressful. Then again, it's great having a big group of people around you - there's a brilliant party vibe!
Emma: I'm only 23 and I've seen so much already. I don't think any of us can really complain about anything...

What do you miss most about home when you're overseas?
Mel B:
Having a cup of tea! I can't wait to sit down in my own house with a cup of tea in front of the telly. As you know, my sister Danielle is in the soap Emmerdale, and I'm really looking forward to watching it at the right time, instead of on video!
Victoria: I've bought a house, but I haven't had time to finish decorating it. Hopefully, by the time we get home it'll all be done - my mum's sorting it out for me!

Have you ever thought of buying a house together - so you can all live under the roof?
Mel B:
We were actually talking about this yesterday! Mel C said we should buy one all together, but I didn't think it was a good idea. Why? Because we'd all argue about who's going to go there on their time off! We're going to have to buy four in different places, so we can swap them all around!
Victoria: We'd have one in Italy, one in France, one in New York...
Mel C: Maybe one in Miami too!

You've all worked so hard and made so much money! What do you spend it on?
Emma:
First of all, it's not nearly as much as everyone says...
Mel C: But it is more than we ever thought we'd earn! (laughs)
Victoria: One thing we've all done is sorted our families out with houses, cars, that kind of thing. And a few of us have bought houses ourselves now.
Mel B: I want to buy a house abroad - that's my dream.

What do you see yourself doing when you finally say "Goodbye" to the Spice Girls?
Mel C:
Having lots and lots of children and boring them with all our pictures!
Emma: Yeah, I think that's really the main thing - we're all looking forward to having a family.
