Two Mels On The Big Screen

Mel B and Mel C have their eyes on the big screen. Mel B, aka Melanie Brown-Gulzar, who did some small TV roles (Coronation Street) before joining the Spice Girls, is to star in Rusty. It's about a loud-spoken lass from Leeds who goes to London to seek fame and fortune and could be semi-autobiographical. Mel is keeping 'mum' about it but Murmurs understands that TV writer Don Webb (his credits include the police action series The Bill) is already working on the script.

Meantime Sporty Spice Mel C wants to be the third Spice Girl to enter movies. She told Hello! magazine that she caught the acting bug while making the Spice Girls movie three years ago. "I'd like to be a female Sly Stallone or Bruce Willis' sidekick in a film where I get to save the world." Not that she's moving away from music. Having seen the Spice Girls get an outstanding achievement from the Brit Awards, she says she wants a similar award on her own. "I've always had this dream, this ambition, to receive a lifetime achievement award in music. I want to gain the sort of respect and admiration from people that I have for my idol, Madonna. Also, I want to go on making music for the rest of my life. I don't want to stop until I drop!"
