News from Training Camp

Hey! Welcome to the NEW Edition of News From Training Camp! I'm a little late I know, but I'll try to keep you up to date with the events from here on in.

September 16th: Well, since a lot has happened since the start all news from then till now will be jumbled up under this date.

CUJO A NO GO?!: Curtis Joseph and the Leafs have not reached an agreement on a contract extension. They will wait until after the season before resuming talks...although talks are not totally cancelled at this point in time. Dryden has said that he won't do any more follow ups of this situation with the media UNLESS he is reporting that a deal has been done.

KABBY NOT HAPPY: Restricted Free Agent Tomas Kaberle awaits a new deal in the Czech Republic. He has signed a temporary contract with a European team that'll let him go back to the NHL if he gets an offer from the Leafs. However, as soon as he plays a regular season game in Europe he cannot return to the NHL this season. The Leafs have not ruled out trade talks involving the talented defenceman, but aren't actively trying to deal him.

LEAFS LAND ON ROCK: The Leafs have managed to keep their promise to Leaf fans in Newfoundland despite the crisis in the USA. Flight problems delayed their trip, making them start their training camp here in Ontario.

PILAR CASHES IN: Leafs rookie defenceman Karel Pilar (pronounced Pee-Lash) seems to have made his mark on the roster. he has proven himself too valuable to cast away, surprising the coaches with his defensive-flair and ability to move the puck. He seems to have made the same impression his fellow Czech pal Kaberle did three years ago.
