1. What inspired the name Drexel?
Nothing, just a bunch of friends BORED.
2. When did you form? How did you reach this line up?
Creek and Jeff decided to play one day. They got Michel to play cause he
had never played a bass before and they thought that would be fun. Well,
the drummer sean had also never played drums before and so he asked me if
he could borrow my drums and if i would help set them up. I said OK. But
didn't really want to cause I had shit to do. Well when it started sean
played for about two seconds and then said "drums suck you play pearson".
I was like, "I don't want to" But I did and we've been drexel ever sence.
3. What would cause the band to break up?
ANYTHING
4. Describe your music for someone who's never heard... music?
Well, if they have never heard music before and they heard us, then they probably
not listen to music ever again. So I call us hmmmm weird.
5. What inspired you to play the music you do?
Nothing as far as the BAND, the sound is just what we do. there was no goal in sight. As far as
everyone indivisually, I like the quicksand and helmet drummer, creek
likes drive like jeho and rocket from the crypt, Jeff likes something,
hmmmm propagandi and mellioncolin, Michel likes JAZZ.
6. What have you released so far?
SHOT BY LAMMIE, NO ONE TOLD ME, WHATEVER WHENEVER
7. How did you hook up with Fork In Hand? How do you get on with them?
They felt bad that we couldn't afford to pay for our own record so they
put us on the BIG D and The Kids Table record. Basically they made that
record a split, just so we could have our shit put out. The Fork In Hand
guys are great.......they support us a lot, everthough shit never happens
with us.
8. How does the songwriting process work in the band? Is it one person or a
democracy? Do you fight much over how a song turns out?
We never ever fight while writting. We all write together and fast. We all talk fast and at
the same time. But it's all like, "ya then, ya then, no, ok, cool, then
YA, ok, ya, no ok,....ect.." Sometime creek and jeff bring a finished
song....but then we change the SHIT out of it.. It's as democratic as a
band can get, really its real fun, the best time I have.
9. What inspires your lyrics? Do you consider the lyrics to be as or more
imprortant as the music?
Thats a question for creek and jeff. I like their lyrics.........I know Jeff gets real into it.....
10. What was the best show/tour you've played? Who's your favourite touring
partners? If you could get on any tour, what would it be?
Best show....hmmmmmm us all DRUNK as FUCK infront of all our friends at a show
at OBRIENS in Allston. It was a show for all our surrounding friends and
friends bands. VERY fun......and Messy. We've been on two tour, or no
money, no shows, no nothing. Drexel has a hard time getting shows with
all the "COOL" bands. I think they all hate us or maybe were black listed.
Anyway, ideal tour you ask.....any tour.
11. What do you fight over the most? What was the worst band fight?
We fight about me being late cause I'm always late......(no big deal) worse
fight was me hitting both creek and jeff at the same time for putting down
my current girl friend. But that was 3 years ago and nothing ever
happened like that again. They could'a kicked my ass if they wanted to
but instead they took it. THats cool of them>
12. How do you define selling out?
I hate that selling out stamp. To many scene-sters us it. Lets just say we sold out now and get it over with cause, everyband will get that said of them at one point even Fugazi
did and man come oh...... I want everyone to like the songs we write, if
they don't I don;t care. But why not infect everyone with the one thing
you like. It's like this.... The world is so fucked, why not donate sperm
and make as many of these weird ass people like you HA HA HA HA
13. If your band was an action figure (real or imaginary), what would it be?
Describe it.
Steve Bochimie....Mr. pink from......ressivore dogs, or
Drexel from True Romance
14. Ian MacKaye once said, "In the old days, records were the menu and the
live show was the meal". Do you think this is still true?
To the
UNDERGROUND, of coures.
15. What is the nicest and meanest thing said about your band?
I like
drexel - I hate drexel
16. Do you think the emergence of punk in the mainstream (a la Blink 182)
has effected punk at a grassroots level?
no but it's changing a style.
I'd rather see that then closing the book on punk and talking about it
like an old man. People need to see that musics baised on rebelon not to
fallow all the rules but to create like those who did back then. You can
hold artist to a Book of things their not. Keeping it all the same is cool
but so is progress and creating.
17. Do you see MP3 as a help or a hindrance? How important do you see the
web as a tool for band promotion?
the promotion it so GREAT soooooo great,
but bands will have to stop playing when then can't make rent of make
enough money to eat. Thats where we're at. Ya gotta get a job, where you
don't work weekends and you can tale weeks and months off to tour. Well,
those are low playing jobs and rent is high. if you don't make any $$ at
your music (like us) then the hole thing doesn't work..
18. What does the future hold For Drexel?
exactally
