MP #27 | Deathsong! Satana! | The Tribe
| NEW! page 3 page 4 4 pgs |
Summary: Sunday, 17 August 1975, Five AM. Satana stands in the smouldering ruins of a car once driven by Deborah Hirsch. Satana had met her some hours earlier when she was run into by Deborah, who was being chased by a mob intent on her death. The mob catch her, and try to burn her at the stake as a witch, but she is released on Satana's word and her gesture, which makes the alpha male among them grovel before her as a pig. Debrorah then reveals herself to really be the Dansker - a formerly trapped demon and one of Satana's trainers in her youth in Hell - possessing the body of poor innocent Deb; free now to walk the Earth killing and plundering at will. Satana goes after him, but not before killing the leader of the mob in self-defense. She takes his soul.
Satana then runs down the Dansker, defeating him in adulthood where she did not in her youth. Dansker takes one last chance and tries to kill Satana with a car. Satana releases the Basilisk upon the demon, killing him and destroying the car, and Deborah. Satana is left in the ruins of Deborah's lost life, vowing one day there would be a reckoning... someday...
MTU #81 | Steve Leialoha | Last Rites | Mike Vosburg |
Summary: This story is continued from Marvel Team-Up #76-77 and 80, with Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel teaming up with Dr.Strange and Clea first with then against Marie Laveau, the Witch-Queen of New Orleans (last seen in Dracula Lives #4 or is it #2?) and Silver Dagger. Marie helped save Clea, at a cost unknown to Strange: he would turn into a werewolf, which he did in MTU #80, and should he kill his soul would be damned, basically leaving Leveau unopposed on Earth. Satana arrives in the last panel of MTU #80 to save or kill Strange. Satana opnes the story deep in a spell in Dr. Strange's Santum Sanctorum, casting spells and using Doc's Orb of Agamotto like she owns it. She is spying on Wong and Spider-man, then uses the portal to transport the two to the Sanctum, where Clea awaits them. Satana lays out her reasons for intervening: "Perhaps because... it amuses me." She then outlines her plan, using Spider-man to find and recapture the werewolf Doc while Satana readies a spell that can save his spirit. Spider-Man fights the werewolf-ed Doc and finally subdues him, returns to the Sanctum. Satana closes the pentagram with Spider-Man and Doc inside, and tells him he must hold the Doc within the circle while she saves his soul in the astral plane. She fights demons endlessly, while getting no closer than seeing the crystal that hold Strange's soul. Without hesitation Satana summons the Basilisk. It destroys the demons in her way, and Satana knows the crystal has a blood-spell on it, which can only be broken by the blood-for-blood, life-for-life method. She breaks the crystal, and the Basilisk takes the opportunity the stab her in the back and kill her while she is weakened by the blood-spell. Her spirit leaves the Basilisk in the astral plane to die when she does, and so not release Armaggeddon on the Earth. She dies in Spider-Man's arms, happy with the choice she has made, sacrificing her life for another, totally contrary to Satan's ideals, totally true to her own.
