hello. i'm germ.

i run a non-profit production label, ambiguously titled the sky is burning. though the sky is burning has been known to make available the occasional audio-cassette, it is mainly a zine outfit (hence the fact that it is a member of a zine collective).

in terms of the kind of work i put out, i'd say that i do my best to make every release from the sky is burning a work of art on some level. the first zine i ever constructed was a poetry/image zine called the sky is burning (the very zine for which the label is named). this first the sky is burning, the sky is burning: independent words, lines, and thoughts was truly a beautiful work. i spent months harassing all my local artist buddies to give me their work and then spent about two weeks xeroxing and laying it all out by hand. with every poem i deliberated on what font i should use or whether or not a poem would be best hand written. with every image i deliberated on how to best portray the image, which poems it should accompany, i even worried about what level of light or dark i should xerox the image with. that's the kind of obsessive attention i put into everything. i truly want to make sure that everything that gets produced from the sky is burning, whether a piece of art, humor, or politics, looks and feels beautiful as a work.
