~*~Vertigo Heartbreak~*~
This poem represented the anguish of un-returned love...
For Joshua
- That morning, my skin felt wrong.
- Crawling and disabled,
- Like I had somewhere, gone terribly wrong.
- I sputtered through the day,
- Unaware of my impeding disaster,
- Waiting for me, like rotten fruit.
- You voice, on the phone, hollow and empty.
- Where once, great passion stood.
- My mind reeled, torn on the question,
- That I could not ask myself.
- To meet at our booth, the table once, and now forever, empty.
- Brushed away, with the sugar and crumbs.
- I went anyway, my black hair curled beautifully,
- My eyes, moist and soft,
- In a tomato-red sweater.
- (A sweater you hated)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- I ignored the discomfort,
- You spit out with your words,
- Until you wouldn't let me anymore.
- I should not have let myself
- love you the way I did,
- Uncontrolled falling,
- Left forever in the dark,
- And sadly beautiful.
