• That morning, my skin felt wrong.
• Crawling and disabled,
• Like I had somewhere, gone terribly wrong.
• I sputtered through the day,
• Unaware of my impeding disaster,
• Waiting for me, like rotten fruit.
• You voice, on the phone, hollow and empty.
• Where once, great passion stood.
• My mind reeled, torn on the question,
• That I could not ask myself.
• To meet at our booth, the table once, and now forever, empty.
• Brushed away, with the sugar and crumbs.
• I went anyway, my black hair curled beautifully,
• My eyes, moist and soft,
• In a tomato-red sweater.
• (A sweater you hated)

• I ignored the discomfort,
• You spit out with your words,
• Until you wouldn't let me anymore.
• I should not have let myself
• love you the way I did,
• Uncontrolled falling,
• Left forever in the dark,
