i had strength below the surface
strength that wound around me like a puppeteer's strings
holding me up, moving my hands and eyes and mouth
i bounded through the world, gravity was no concern of
me, the laughing one
and when you touched me
finally
i turned somersaults in mid air

i landed on my feet, like a flying dream
and found it was hard to get back
into the air
my feet jumped, my hands waved
like seal fins, paddling through the
heavy air
you've left fingerprints, left your mark on me
no you did not corrupt me no you did not dirty me
but the strength i have now holds me up
from the bottom
flows through the ground into my calves, making them tingle

if i press my arms hard enough on the walls around me
when i turn sideways they float into the air
