Starting your John Wayne DVD collection

I have been ask, "How do I start my DVD collection?" "Where is the best place to buy the DVD in good quality?". It's pretty easy. First follow this link and print out your own DVD movie list. This way you can mark off the movies that you collect and won't get two of the same movie. Here is the link to my printer friendly printable list: John Wayne Printable List .

I need to tell you about a several of his movies though;

  1. "The Three Musketeers" (1932) This was first released as a serial, that is, in parts over time. Later the movie studio decided to edit this movie into one continuous movie and released it as " Desert Command". They are both the same movie, just shown different.
  2. "McLintock" (1963) There are several releases by different companies on this movie. All are of very low quality except for one. I REALLY recommend you find the Paramount released version of this movie. It is complete and cleaned up. You will be much happier with this high quality movie, usually around $10 to $13 dollars.
  3. Between 1926 and 1937, a lot of the John Wayne movies begin to be scarce. That is most are not on DVD. I'm not sure why, some are very good movies, just a bit grainy. I guess this is because of the age of the film and how they were shot. The only thing I can recommend is to go to eBay to find them. I have a several and I myself am quite pleased with them. I usually pay around $10 per movie and no more. I try to find free shipping and handling also, if possible.
  4. Several of his older titles are considered lost because there is no know print of the movie or a reel or two is missing. Right now, it will be impossible to ever find them on DVD. A sad lost to the world.
  5. Several of his older titled movies only come in packs with other movies. Some will be John Wayne movies, some are with other movies of the same year.
  6. HD DVD is pretty much dead now and isn't worth collecting, but John Wayne movies on Bluray is a slow process. I'm not sure if there will be a lot of titles on Bluray, the future of Bluray remains to be seen. I would recommend just getting his movies on DVD only as they are more available as they are inexpensive, durable, and easy to come by.
  7. Some titles can be gotten with two or four packs (two disc, two movies per disc). This might save money and shelf space. It's up to you how you want your collection.

Best places to find John Wayne DVD for a good bargain.
