Cartoon Logic Suspension Distilled Forever

When you take still frames from cartoons and display them out of context, it's awesome. Why is it awesome? Because we lose sight of the ongoing narrative that bookended this image with probably 23 other images within just one second, and quite often the image alone is more funny than the actual gag it's a part of. And if it's not funny, it just might be extremely strange and awesome on its own terms.

Booby Trap

For instance, look at this wacky G.I. who will never wash his eyes again after beholding this mannequin's puff-of-smoke breasts. At least I think they're puffs of smoke. See, that's just the thing, I've never seen this cartoon before, and who knows if I ever will. I will forever be mulling over how this G.I. found himself at a piano with a false woman beside him who had creampuff ta-tas, and also what would cause him the obvious anxiety he is experessing in this picture. I do know one thing, this cartoon was called "Booby Traps," and that's a fact.

"Falling Hare" and Pig with Eggs

Bugs Bunny's buck teeth are planted in the ground, implying some kind of collision with the Earth. The mischievous airplane-species gremlin (pre-dating Gizmo by about 45 years) either pulls Bugs' lids up from, or over, his eyes. I'm thinking the former. If I hadn't seen this wartime looney tune classic I wouldn't have the slightest, however, and in a way that's how I'd prefer it. It's a pretty good picture just the way it is, man. Boy do I feel like that after a long night out on the town, huh fellas! HA! HA! HA!

Are they in the doggone fourth dimension, for I see no houses, trees, grass or objective reality whatsoever! I'm sure this is part of some "daffy" and hallucinatory sequence which apparently involves a uniformed Daffy kinda chugga-chugging with his arms on top of Porky Pig while the poor swine literally bends over backwards (so as not to crack the giant egg?) Oh My.

Understatement Index Anyone?
