Each Wavelength will feature two bands performing live, one of which will be an established band on thelocal scene, while the other may be a side project, an experimental one-off,an out-of-towner, or a new band playing their first show.
The night will be rounded out by a DJ selecting cool tunes both current and classic, and the vibe will be laidback - but stimulating. It will be a place to chill outevery week, talk with friends new and old, hear some great music - and rockout like there's no tomorrow (or Monday, as the case may be).
It's also this zine, which we hope will serve as more than just blatant propaganda, and keep you informed about Toronto's musical happenings at ground zero, plus provide you with a few laughs. It's available on the web and in print.
And more or less, Wavelength is a loose collective of friends and fellow musicians who got together last fall to figure out how to boost our own scene. This is what we came up with - we hope you dig it.
We all feel thatToronto is on the cusp of something, something exciting and potentially big. The music being made here - in all genres - is unparalled on an international scale.
We want to let people here, and in the rest of the world, know about it.
And we want everyone to come out, get loose and havesome fun.And by all means, get involved. This ain't no private members' club!
We decided to start the series off with a bang, and break with tradition before it even begins: Wavelength #1 featured two of Toronto's most loved indie bands, Mean Red Spiders and Neck. Check out Live Music Night link for upcoming bands.
