STELLA
WAVELENGTH #24
JULY 23 - 10PM

Dear Stella,

That was a fun show we played during that eclipse in January. Sorry it's taken so long to write. I don't have email. That sucks that we couldn't get our act together in time to do the interview you & ask about what's new with your music. Oh well. We have our memories.

Here's the scoop about your show. You're going to be playing a show with the Dinner is Ruined Band and since those cats at Wavelength didn't make a big deal out of the 10th or 20th weeks' shows, the 24th will be the first big "can't believe they haven't kicked us outta their club yet" night. It will be fun.

Besides, rounding everything off to the nearest multiple of ten is so dull. Same goes for twenty-fives. I'm going to feel so sad about the Queen Mum the day after her subjects have trotted her out to the stage to tell her her how much they love her of the occasion of her 100th birthday. She's pretty awesome. She has two artificial hips but she can still walk on her own. And you know what? I heard her make a little speech last month, it was the first time I'd ever heard her speak, and she was absolutely lucid! It's awful, I know, but I didn't really think she had all her marbles rattling around in there. I mean, I don't expect to have many of my own when I'm 100. Hope the Queen Mum doesn't feel too lonely once the cameras have all gone home. But on the other hand the royals have had a rough go of it with those cameras. She might be relieved. But really. Why didn't they make a big deal out of her when she was 96? It's just another number. Sheesh.

So. Why not twenty-four?

It will have been twenty-four weeks of Wavelength and that's cause enough to make party a verb.

None of this would be going on, or maybe it would but it wouldn't be the same, had not Theta State put together that Leisure Terrorists compilation all those moons ago. "Slacker Boy Blue", by your old band Kat Rocket, that was an awesome song. Tearjerker. We've had plenty of great voices on the stage and I'm happy you're going to play. (If you show up.)

Hope the cat's well,

Doc Pickles
