Top 11
Top 11 Cars Of Project Gotham Racing 2
This probably marks as the first time in the Top 11 feature where I devote a
list to just one game. Microsoft's and Bizzare Creation's Project Gotham Racing 2
is one of the most engaging and addictive racing games, with a lot of cars and
a lot of races to compete in. This could be the closest to Sony and Polyphony Digital's
Gran Turismo series that anyone has gotten to. Anyway, this Top 11 is devoted
to the Top 11 Cars of PGR2. Well, make that MY favorite cars of the game. Some cars
one the list that are better (speed and even performance-wise) may not be ahead
of those that aren't. I'm taking into consideration on how they do perform, as
well as how fun they are to drive. So, without further ado, the Top 11 Cars (or
shall we say favorites?) of PGR2!
- 11- Nissan 350Z (Coupe Class): We start the list off wth the sporty
Nissan 350 Z. While not technically the fastest car in the class, it is the most
attractive car and probably the most fun to drive.
- 10- BMW Z4 (Sport Convertable Class): I really like the new BMW roadster much more than
the previous Z3. The car is really attractive all around (not to mention the fact that
this is one of the best car models in the game), and is pretty much the top performer
in it's class. A nice car to take a spin around Barcelona in.
- 9- Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (996) (Sport Coupe Class): Pretty much the
only car I use in this class. It feature very tight cornering (without all of the
sliding), and speed and acceleration to match. I'm not really going for this car
on looks (although it's by no means an ugly ride), since this looks like a couple
of other Porsches in the game, but it's a car that get things done.
- 8- Ferrari 360 Modena (Super Car Class): While I wish that the sliding
was toned down on this car, it's still pretty much the only car I use in this class.
It has great speed and accleration, and the cornering is pretty good as well. Nice
design, and I really love that one shade of blue used for this model.
- 7- Noble M12 GTO3 (Track Specials Class): This car is a bit of a suprise.
I think it's top speed is a bit lower than other cars in this class, but the accelration
and handling is incredible, and I was suprised how well this car does in leaving the
competition in the dust.
- 6- Ferrari 575M Maranello (Grand Touring Class): This is pretty much my
alternative to using the Mercedes SL55 AMG in this class. It's faster than the
said car, and pretty much takes car of any race I can't complete in the Mercedes.
A nice looking car, but not as much fun to drive as the Mercedes.
- 5- Mercedes SL55 AMG (Grand Touring Class): A fun to drive, and a fairly
well performing car. This car almost ranks with the BMW Z4 as the most fun to drive
car (as well as the #1 car), simply because the car looks cool and handles itself
well.
- 4- Ascari KZ-1 (Extreme Class): Pretty much the best performing car in it's
class, and managed to help pull off an incredible score in the Washington DC cone
challenge. It's fast, it turns pretty well, has great accleration, and more. The
only downside is that it really likes to powerslide, and that's not good if you're
trying to be careful through tight spaces.
- 3- Enzo Ferrari (Ultimate Class): Thinking that this should be the best car
of the game, you would wonder why it's in the #3 spot. Well, that's because on
certain races, this car feels floatier than the #2 car on the list. Sure, it's
fast, has high accelration and pretty good handling. But in coruses in which there
are jumps and such, control is hard to regain. Still, this is a visually striking
car, and is fast like a mo-fo.
- 2- Porsche Carrera GT (Ultimate Class): A pretty nice looking car that
can take car of what the Enzo can't. For one, it can powerslide easier than the Enzo,
which is important on the cone challenge events. Second, it feels heavier than the
Enzo. I've pretty much used this car more in this race class than the "cover car"
of the game. But, what can beat this car?
- 1- Subaru Impreza WRX (Pacific Muscle Class): Some of you (well, the 4
of you who stumbled on to this page) may be asking, saying WTF? Why is a car from
a much lower class higher on the list than the Carrera GT2 or the Enzo Ferrari? Well,
for one, this is my favorite car of the game. It's really fun to drive, and on top
of that, it's the best performing car of it's class. Sure, this car doesn't
hall ass like the Enzo, but it's more fun to drive. This car, in esssence, is
THE street racing vehicle. It can turn and powerslide pretty well, has great accelration
an decent speed (for the class). Plus, unlike half the cars on the list, this one
is obtainable in real life, and available at an attainable price. Then there's the
whole rally thing, but we really don't go off-road in this game...
Well, that's that and that's all for now. Here are some of the cars that came
close, but not quite, to making the final cut:
BMW M3, Porsche 911 Turbo (996), Honda NSX Type-R, Dodge Viper SRT-10, Ferrari F-50,
Porsche 911 GT2 (993), Koerigsegg CCV8S, Volkswagen R32 and the Nissan Skyline R34 Nur.
