They're Forming Alliances!

Friday, 9/14/01

Neil has been eliminated from Janitor Survivor, and Kevin is sighing a sigh of relief. However, he is anxious to find out who has conspired to throw him out of janitor survivor. After talking with Paul Dejarnett, Kevin learns that Paul has been voting to kick out Neil all along, and Paul believes the real culprit is Wes. Kevin isn’t sure who to trust now, but believes that a certain Nick J is attempting throw chaos into the janitors’ lives.

With Neil gone, it seems that no one is in charge of building maintenance, and things at Grace Point are looking dirty and untidy. The janitors have thus learned an important lesson that discipline can be a good thing, especially when many people are counting on you to do your job.

Because much of the focus has been on Neil and Kevin, some of the other janitors think naturally Kevin will be the next to go since he had a large number of votes against him last week. However, Kevin believes that an act of sabotage may take the focus off him. He and Kelly decide to hide all of the cleaning supplies Thursday night in hopes that they won’t have to clean on Friday.

Their plan works for a while, but Alex is so resourceful, that he brings supplies from home to help clean the church. In addition, he is able to find the hidden supplies in Neil’s office, along with some of Wes’s clothes. Are Kevin and Kelly plotting to turn their backs on Wes?

In the meantime, Brent lost his key. The gym was being renovated, and a concrete wall being installed this week. The wall was not yet complete, and Brent was casually tossing his key in the air in the gym. Unfortunately for Brent, he is somewhat clumsy. He managed to wedge his key between the old wall and the new one, and was unable to retrieve it. Later, the top of the wall was finished, and the key sealed behind it. Should he be allowed to stay even though he is the clumsiest janitor?

Jeramy has not been around Grace Point recently, since he just moved into his own place and is still trying to get situated. He is also in the process of interviewing for other jobs. One has to wonder if his heart is still in the game? Should Jeramy be voted off for not being around? Will Kelly and Kevin be successful in their efforts? Is Alex becoming too much like Neil that he needs to be voted off? You decide.

Alex was called in for special setup over the weekend, and as usual did an outstanding job. His hard work makes him look like he is kissing up to Neil, and the daycare janitors are sick of it. Kevin stated, “Who is he trying to impress?”, and Wes agreed saying that Alex is a miniature version of Neil. As a result, Kelly spoke with Alex on Sunday to persuade him to think she had a special interest in him. Alex, however, was not interested and said to her face, “You are the most masculine girl I have ever seen, except for Janet Reno.”

With the votes so close between Neil and Kevin, both are trying to rally support, and Neil is actually being more nice around the office. He told Brent that he didn’t have to clean the mirrors in the bathroom if he would help vote Kevin off. Brent wasn’t sure, so he asked the advice of Paul Dejarnett. Paul simply responded, “You take care of Kevin this week, and I’ll take care of the rest.” Brent didn’t clean the mirrors.

Wes is becoming friends with a four year old boy from the daycare named Phillip. Phillip wishes to be like Wes when he grows up, and in many ways the two of them have a lot in common. A photo of the two of them together can be seen on Wes’s profile page. (Apparently this is one of the games they play). Phillip wants Wes to bring in some spraypaint to paint the teacher’s hair like a clown. Wes loves this kid.

Jeramy found a job as a part time music teacher for a local public school. He teaches only one day a week, but this does take him out of the janitor routine. He also continues to tell Kevin that they are working together, even though he is secretly apart of the Paul Dejarnett team.

With the first janitor to be eliminated in two days, things are relatively relaxed at Grace Point, although Kevin is spending more time looking for another job, while trying to fight to stay on. He is desperately rallying support, and it seems to be working.

The janitors continue to form and break alliances, as their ties to one another aren’t yet strong. The alliance between Jeramy and Kevin lasted only a short while, since Kevin believes Jeramy has undertaken a secret plot to take out the daycare janitors one at a time. As Kevin and Wes talked about strategy, Wes stated,
“I think Jeramy, Alex, and Brent want to get rid of me and you, and then they’ll have a definite majority. I also think that such a diabolical plot can only be the work of Paul Dejarnett, who wants desperately to be a janitor himself. He is taking his jealousy out on us and attempting to put himself in charge of the maintenance at Grace Point.”

Kevin agrees, and the two of them look to Kelly to help them even the score with Paul Dejarnett. Kelly agrees to try and seduce the church janitors into siding with her and fool them into trusting her. The three of them complete a strong alliance that should last to the end, if Kevin can outlast Neil.

Neil is not nervous about the upcoming eviction, since he is the one in charge. On Friday, he told Alex to start voting Kevin out, or it would mean his job. He seems to have the church janitors under his control, but is butting heads with the daycare janitors. Kevin and Wes continue to take days off without telling Neil, and Wes often leaves the office unvacuumed just to spite him.

Thursday, 9/6/01

In the wake of Paul Hartlines retirement the janitors are left without a leader, and they begin to wonder if Paul will be replaced, or if the entire crew will be forced out by a cleaning company. Part of this speculation revolves around the separation of the janitors at Grace Point. Neil, Brent, Jeramy, and Alex each serve as church janitors, while Kevin, Kelly, and Wes clean the daycare side of the building.

These two groups are separated by what is commonly called ‘the firewall’. The firewall divides the building in half and designates which areas of the building should be cleaned by whom. However, there are several gray areas that create tension between the church janitors and daycare janitors. One of those areas, the church office, is continuously an issue. The church office is cleaned by the daycare janitors even though it is on the other side of the firewall. Earlier this week, it was reported that Neil left a note for Wes:

"The church office was not vacuumed again. What part of the cleaning do you not understand? Clean it or I will own you. Thnx."
Neil

It is a well known fact that Wes is strictly opposed to vacuuming the church office. He was quoted as saying, “Those lazy church janitors don’t clean anything. Why do I have to do their job for them?” Meanwhile, tension is also building over the potential cleaning service. The janitors feel that they are underpaid, especially in light of the price quotes by the cleaning companies interested in the job.

This has pinned Neil in a corner, making him take a ‘It’s me vs. the janitors’ approach. Consequently many of the janitors are beginning to whisper on how they can overthrow the mighty Neil. Brent, for one, feels that Neil holds the power of his fate right now. He wants desperately to stay on as a janitor, because of the rising cost of being a ladies man these days.

Kevin is beginning to feel the strain of the monotonous lifestyle, and is suspiciously looking for work elsewhere. He and Jeramy have taken up a secret alliance, but both are not happy to keep working at Grace Point. Kevin hopes that his alliance might squeak him by for a few weeks.

Alex continues to run a very busy schedule, yet stays positive about working. He appears to be the hardest worker in the bunch, but everyone knows that hard work isn’t everything--just ask Kelly.

As the lone female Kelly has chosen to fly under the radar for a little while. After a few weeks she feels that she can surface and become a true force, probably by backstabbing or manipulating as often is the case with females. For now she is content to lead on all the janitors into thinking she is an airhead.
