2.What other bands were you in before? my first band was called Adickdid (ha!) (3 girls), and my last band before the butchies was Team Dresch (4 dykes)
3.How many albums do you have out? as the butchies-3, for me in my music career-7
4.How long have you played the guitar? since i was 15....um,...12 years! yikes
5.What instruments do you play? piano, saxophone, harmonica
6.What are some of your favorite bands? all the bands on Mr. Lady (!), New Order, Bahamadia, Bruce Springstein and my fave vocalist is Roberta Flack
7.Do you have a favorite place to play? love Gainesville Florida, northhampton's cool, we played Bismarck North Dakota once and it ruled!
8.How do you go about writing the lyrics? usually it's kinda like writing poetry free verse style, really free association, sometimes i really think about what i want to write about but mostly it just comes out of me from somewhere deep inside from a netherworld unknown to my conscious self
9.Have you ever collaborated on writing with someone else? yeah, my ex landlady Christine Denkewalter, and all the bands i've been in to a certain extent it's collaborative songwriting
10.Whats the most difficult thing about being an independent musician? it's simultaneously the best thing about being indie, which is doin' it all yourself.
11.Has anyone helped you in your career? many people, my parents the most....they are so kind and generous
12.Who inspires you? my girlfriend Tammy Rae
13.What does punk mean to you? DIY
14.How would you describe the Butchies music? melodic punk, or rock and roll with many tangents
15.What do you like to do in your free time? take my 2 dogs on walks, play music, i am a closet jock so i like to shoot hoops and i am hoping to expand on my sports activities in the future, really into soccer!
