(c) Matt Daughenbaugh 2001 Slavic Sorcery is very complicated to explain but very close to the earth. As most sorceries are dead and lost to time, Slavic Sorcery has remained and has stayed unchanged for many many thousands of years. This sorcery is still practiced today in Eastern Europe (Russia, Czech, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Ukrane, Poland, Siberia, YugoSlavia, Romania and many other countries). The Slavs ancient magical tradition is very dualistic. Everything is postitve and negavtive. Though negative is not looked upon as evil, but as a strong power for healing. To cure an illness, you must curse it, take it out of the body and kill it! Slavic Sorcery is polythestic, which means worshiping many gods. THe ultamite god is Perun, the white god is Belabog and the black god is Chernabog. The god of the underworld where the ancestos dwell is Veles. In fact, in Ukrane, the book of Veles has been found. This is an ancient book of Slavic rituals. Eqivalant to what the Egyptian book of the dead is to Egypt. This book was thought to be a legend but turns out to be real. The Slavs were the last people in Europe to be forced to christianity. Many of the christian churchs were built upon Slavic temples and sacred sites. Their practices masked with cathocalism to make the people convert more easily. One custom is on Halloween, The family would gather together and cook a large meal. They would eat. Then after they were done, they would set the table, pour fresh vodka and make bread to give to the ancestors to eat. (The Slavs also worshiped thier ancestors). They would also light candles in each window to show the ancestors the way home. After this was over, they would sit down, tell stories and predict the future. The Slavic rituals are simple and require basically no tools for thier magical workings which makes it even better. Although in the old days, they did perform some human sacrifices to the god of water Kupalo on Midsummer. As you can see, Slavic Sorcery in the past was not a select religion but one the whole village was involved in, so everyone performed magic. To this day, Slavic Sorcerers can be found all over Eastern Europe. They usually provide psychic healing for the public. They even aid the police in Romania to solving crimes!
