Surefooted and well trained horses, with Western and Trailrider saddles.
Experienced guide with detailed knowledge of local fauna, flora and history.

You see

Fabulous mountain scenery,
Lots of game and birds, including black eagles and, if you are lucky, rare Yellowbreasted Pipits.
Indigenous flora, including rare cycads,
Bushman paintings and Boer War scherms.

The Great Winterberg is one of the highest mountains in the Eastern Cape. As you ride among its foothills you will follow trails which were used by Bushmen, Boer and British soldiers and the Scottish settlers. Soak up the history in surroundings of beauty and tranquility with pure mountain air filling your lungs. Feel the breeze as it stirs around you and be refreshed by the song of the birds as your soul glories in the peace and the grandeur of the peaks and the wide-open spaces.

Relax after your day's ride and refresh yourself with a dip in the dam, a trip in a canoe, floating on the water on an inner-tube, fishing for trout or bass or just soaking up the peace and beauty of the landscape.

If you are coming from afar you can arrange for us to collect you at Port Elizabeth airport visiting the Addo Elephant Park and other scenic areas on the way back. While you are here enjoy one of our day drives starting with breakfast at the Katberg Hotel after a trip down the magnificent Old Katberg Pass and then lunch at the Mpofu Game Reserve or join us on a trip to Cradock and the Mountain Zebra Park or even further afield to Graaff Reinet and the Valley of Desolation.
