Ah, Morbid Angels debut album. I remember buying this on vinyl when it was first released in 1989 at a local record shop. I couldn't wait for it and when it was finally released i was overwhelmed with joy. This is another Death Metal classic that I have enjoyed over the years and will always do so. With so many great bands hailing from Florida ie..Death, Obituary, Nocturnus etc...Morbid Angel are my favorite next to Death.
Guitar work on this album is awesome by Trey Azagthoth and Richard Brunelle with lots of blistering wah-wah leads and lightspeed riffs.
Vocals by David Vincent are demonic sounding the drums by Pete Sandoval are amazing with some of the best double bass drumming i've ever heard. Listen to "Immortal Rites" and you'll see what i'm talking about. This is definitely my favorite Morbid Angel album.
Production on the album is good even though it could have been a little bit thicker sounding, but still a great production.
Overall this is a fantastic album that will be forever one of the greatest albums of the genre and must be added to any Death Metal collection.
