"Under Sign Of The Black Mark" the predecessor to this album is on of the most influential albums in Black Metal history. Bands like Darkthrone, Mayhem, Immortal were all highly influenced by this album, just listen to any older albums by these bands and you'll know what I mean. So could "Blood Fire Death" top it. Well I wouldn't say it's better, but just more polished and isn't as chaotic as UTSOTBM

The album starts off with an intro "Odens Ride Over Nordland" which has a cool acoustic guitar section. After the intro all hell breaks loose with "A Fine Day To Die" with its ulra fierce leads and fast punding drums. "The Golden Walls Of Heaven" is the next track which is also fast and neckbreaking. "Pace Till Death" is next and it starts having a doomish sound and than the fast pounding drums are back. "Holocaust" is your typical fast paced Bathory tune. "For All Those Who Died" slows the tempo down a bit and is my favorite on the album an awesome song. "Dies Irae" the fastest track on the album with blistering speed riffs and merciless leads, not for the weak. The last song "Blood Fire Death" which also slows things down a bit is also a great song that starts off with an acoustic piece and than leads you off to war.

I must say that this an excellent Bathory album which also broke the ground for the Viking Metal genre. If you enjoyed UTSOTBM than you'll like this one just as much which takes you on an epic journey. A must for any Bathory fan.
