Being one of the longest-running Swedish Death Metal bands, GRAVE has created a sound and style which has been an inspiration on a number of the genre's more promising younger outfits, both for their initial Old School Death Metal roots but also for their early Death 'n' Roll approach. Together with bands like Nihilist / Entombed or also Carnage / Dismember, GRAVE certainly belong to the classic group of prominent Death Metal acts from the east coast of Sweden that established a worldwide reputation and a trademark low-frequency sound-attack.

After several demo tapes (which by the way appear compiled as a special bonus disc for the release of their new studio album), the band's legendary 1991 debut, Into The Grave, established GRAVE as one of Death Metal's most brutal new hopefuls, a title the act cemented through a host of live performances across Europe and America together with legendary acts like Death, Massacre, Bolt Thrower, Demolition Hammer, Unleashed or Cannibal Corpse, as well as with the acclaimed follow-up releases You'll Never See... (1992), the And Here I Die...Satisfied MCD (1993) and the 1994 masterpiece Soulless.

This latest release marked the beginning of a new era for the band, both stylistically and line-up wise: The band adapted a more mature, catchy and groove-based sound and shortly afterwards frontman Jörgen Sandström moved on to join Entombed's ranks after touring in promotion of the album. Guitar player Ola Lindgren took over vocal duties for the next release, Hating Life (1996), and after continuous touring, the band entered a state of hibernation, which would last for a full five years. Without ever officially breaking up, GRAVE had gathered a new line-up in the year of 2000, consisting of founding members Ola Lindgren (guitars / vocals), Jensa Paulsson (drums), returning original bassist Jonas Torndal (now on guitars) as well as ex-Therion member Fredrik Isaksson (bass).

The revigorated quartet decided to enter Sunlight Studio in early 2002 with longtime producer Tomas Skoksberg to nail down nine brand new tracks for their furious comeback album Back From The Grave. And yes, this is the pure GRAVE-style of annihilating Death Metal that we all appreciated so much back in the day! Catchy, ever-pounding and featuring both monstrously deep guitars and vocals, this brutal four piece has definitely regained its strength and power, so that all friends of the old and untamed school of Swedish Death Metal should be pleasantly surprised with this offering. In the meantime, GRAVE have already completed a comeback tour through Europe with labelmates The Forsaken as well as Disinter, showcased their return at several European Summer festivals and will surely continue their merciless campaign of devastation with further touring after the release of Back From The Grave. Another feast is soon to begin…
