Formed in 1987 by Nicke Anderson (Drums), Johnny Hedlund (Bass), Leif Cuzner (Guitars), Alex Hellid (Guitars), and Lars-Goran Pertov (Vocals) who joined the band in 1988 recorded three demos "Premature Autopsy" (1988), "Only Shreds Remain" (1989), and "Drowned" (1989) which broke the ground for the Swedish Death Metal scene, with other bands like Carbonized, Dismember, Carnage, Unleashed, Therion etc...following in their footsteps.

Nihilist broke up in 1989 with some members forming Entombed....NIHILIST R.I.P.
