24. Now with your mouse, drag each "side" out towards the edges of your circle and then, slightly over,
until you get the look you like.

19.jpg

25. Repeat this step again, doing the same thing to your top lines now.
And then, apply your deformation.
Here is what your ornament should look like at this stage.
We are getting there ;o)

20.jpg

26. Add a NEW RASTER LAYER (LAYER 6)
And bring it to the top of all your other layers, if it isn't already.

27. Click on your DRAWING TOOL
Set your foreground/background colors to solid white.
And use these settings as a guideline

21.jpg

28. Now, start your line, directly down the center of your ornament. BEGINNING
just below its gold frame, and finishing, at the bottom, where the gold frame begins again.
TIP: Keep your shift key depressed as you are drawing your line, to keep it straight.

22.jpg

29. Go to your MAGIC WAND now, and click INSIDE your white line.
Go to EFFECTS>PLUGIN FILTERS>SUPERBLADE PRO
And apply the same shiny gold preset, using the same settings one more time.

30. We want to lighten this line up just a bit, so it will stand out.
So go up to COLORS>ADJUST>BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST
Using the settings of your choice.

31. Now apply a light drop shadow and
DESELECT

32. Go up to EFFECTS>SHARPEN>SHARPEN
Do this TWICE.
Now your ornament should look something like this.

23.jpg

If you like the effect that we already have, you can skip the optional step I
have included.
This is also, just one more variation on what can be done with this tutorial.

________________________________________________________________________________

32A. OPTIONAL STEP:
Activate LAYER 1
With your MAGIC WAND click anywhere inside the white portion of your pic.
Go to SELECTIONS>INVERT
Your circle image should have marching ants around it now.
Add a NEW RASTER LAYER (LAYER 7)
Copy and paste a bubble tube of your choice, INTO THE SELECTION.
I have included a variety of them in the supply list for download above, if you need them.
I have opted to skip this step, for my ornament.

________________________________________________________________________________

33. If you are happy with the look of your ornament now, and it needs no more adjustments, close your
BACKGROUND LAYER, make a duplicate of your image (SHIFT + D), and save the one you are working on,
in psp format.

34. Ok, now we will be working on the duplicate image, Close your BACKGROUND LAYER, then go to
LAYERS>MERGE VISIBLE
You can turn on your background layer again now.

35. Ok, make your MERGED LAYER active
We are going to add some texture to our ornament now
AGAIN, you don't have to do this, this is purely personal prefrence.
I want my ornament to give the illusion of soft, delicate paper.
To add texture.
Go up to EFFECTS> TEXTURE EFFECTS, and choose a pattern and settings you like.

36. Now we are going to add our ornament top. I am using a collected tube for this that is
included in the supply list on the Victorian Ornament Tutorials first page, HERE for download.
Copy and PASTE AS A NEW LAYER, using your moving tool, place it where you want it.
resize the cap up or down if necessary.

37. Give your ornament cap a slight drop shadow now.
Here is what my ornament looks like at this point.
NOTE: (I have added a drop shadow to the full ornament at this point, just for
clarity in the illustration. I do NOT suggest you do this, since you will be using your ornament as
a tube at future times. Once a drop shadow is applied, and your image is saved, there is no way to
get rid of it.)

24.jpg

I like this round ornament, just the way it is. It kind of reminds me of a Chinese Lantern, but, my
initial goal was to achieve a more feminine, softer look, so I am going to continue on. You
can stop your deformations here, or you can follow along with me to check out one more deformation
option you have.

________________________________________________________________________________

37A. OPTIONAL FROM HERE:
With your MERGED LAYER active.
Go up to EFFECTS>GEOMETRIC EFFECTS>PERSPECTIVE VERTICAL
And, use this setting as a guideline.
Use the view button (the eye icon) on your settings box to see the effect you are achieving.

25.jpg

Once you have the shape you like, Click OK, then, go back to EFFECTS>SHARPEN>SHARPEN - once.

________________________________________________________________________________

Here is what I have now, and it is much more of what I had in mind when I started.

26.jpg

We have finished our basic ornament.
You can delete your BACKGROUND LAYER NOW, and save your ornament in psp or tub format to use at a
later time If you are stopping here, I do hope you've learned something new.
