Slovakia has these HL places
They come in all types and sizes.
Hlacovo
Hladovka
Hlaskonka
Hlavinka
Hlbocky Dvor
Since they couldn't get enough of a good thing
there are several towns, in different districts with this name and variants.
Hlboka
Hlboke
Hlboke
And here's a note I found about these towns:
Hlboke
The Hlboke village was first time mentioned in 1262.
At the end of the 13th century it belonged to the Branc Domain
I think it's safe to say that not much has happened there since it was founded
Hleb: see Chleb
"Chleb" means bread, you know.
Hlimce
I believe this is a case of a town, a township and a county
(or Obec) all with the same name.
Sort of like New York, New York.
Well, maybe not ....
Hlina
Hlina
Hlina
Hlina, Myslivna: see Hlina
Hlinanov
The 'nov' at the end of a word often is a way of showing a possessive.
So this is sort of like Hlina's Place -- or Hlinaville>
Now here's a bunch of places named Aluminum,
and I really have no idea why.
Slovakia isn't exactly known for being an aluminum producer.
And again, this seems to be town, district, region type of thing.
You know, politcal subdivision terms don't exactly translate well.
Hlinik
Hlinik
Hlinik
Now these two places names mean
Aluminum on the Hronom River
and
Aluminum on the Vahom River.
I don't quite get it, but hey it's their town and country
and they can call it what they want.
Hlinik nad Hronom
Hlinik nad Vahom
Hliniky
This is some form of the word Aluminum.
Hlinka
I went to school with sisters named Susan and Maureen Hlinka.
Don't know if there's any connection whatsoever.
Hlinne
Hlisnce: see Hlimce
Hliviscse: see Hlivistia
Hliviste: see Hlivistia
Hlivistia
Now, see, here are three things with nearly the same name.
A town, township, district, a county (okres)
and a mountain -- hory

Hlohovec, Okres
Hlohovec District:
see Hlohovec, Okres
Hlohovecke hory: see Povazsky Inovec

How's this: a Hlavni Budova -- or main hall -- in Hlohovec!

Hloza
Hlozsa: see Hloza
I'm pretty sure that the first spelling is Hungarian. The second is Slovak.
There is a sizeable Hungarian minority in the present day Republic of Slovakia.
Hungarian is a language unrelated to any known other langauge, and has no HL in it.
