Their first album "The Apparition" is a jewel of pure metal with old roots!
METAL INQUISITOR had to be featured in Iron Wolf a second time. Here's an
interview with mainman and guitarist Blumi.
You just released your "The Apparition" first album. Congratulations for
this fantastic album which sounds like in the eighties and is varied with
nwobhm influenced heavy and heavy/speed, epic stuff and US speed metal influences.
Are you satisfied with all the songs ? What are your thoughts about this
album ?
It's good when you say/consider that in our songs
there are different influences. In fact, that's one of our very important
goals! If I'm satisfied, I don't know because I listened so often to the
album, so I'm not able to give an opinion to it. But many people like it
so it can not be the "ass-bomb" of the month in a fanzine (laughing).
How came the idea to cover a song of Open Fire ? (I didn't know this band).
Are they good friend of you ? Was it difficult for El Rojo to sing in polish
?
Open Fire is an old polish band and I found this
song on a Metalmania lp from '87. These bands were never considered from
the West of Europe 'till now, so it was time to honour them. They've made
very cool music and this under political oppression! It's me who sings and
it was anything else than easy to speak this language.
How was the recording of the album in the studio ? Were you comfortable
?
I was a little bit worried that the music do not
change in comparison with the 7'', but that's wrong! Go in the studio and
just play...
Have you sent the album to a lot of zines and mags ? Have you already
an idea of the press reaction ?
The most promotion do now Iron Glory, but anyway
I still want to consider the smaller fanzines because it's very important
for me to stay in contact with the underground. About the press reaction
we will see.
You recorded a promo tape in 2000 to help the search of a deal. Three
song made it to the album, but what will be the destiny for "Fire" ?
This song has changed into "Get Down" and it's the
eighth song. Yes, a little bit change in this song.
Will the three songs of the demo and the two songs of the 7'' stay on
these releases as a thank for those who have supported the band since the
beginning, or do you think to re-record some of the songs on the future albums
?
No, never! The 7'' must be exclusive and rare. But
I think about to record "Four By Four" (one track from the demo) now on the
second or third album.
How is the relationship with Iron Glory ? How many albums is the deal
?
The first impression to me became true. They are
really ok in comparison with other labels. I hope we can do two further albums.
What do you think of the other bands on Iron Glory ?
Iron Glory give a chance to many good bands which
earned this. Also many re-releases of cult lps of the eighties. So we can
be proud to work with them together. For me it's embarrassing to be at a
label like Nuclear Blast or something. This will never happen!
What is your current top ten metal albums ?
I think of all time, right ? 1) Iron Maiden "Seventh
Son Of a Seventh Son", 2) Saxon "The Eagle Has Landed", 3) Exodus "Bonded
By Blood", 4) Turbo "Kawaleria Szatana", 5) Exciter "Heavy Metal Maniac",
6) Dragon "Horda Goga", 7) Törr "Institute Klinicke Omasti", 8) Metalucifer
"Warriors Ride On The Chariots" 12'', 9) Angel Dust "Into The Dark Past",
10) Excruciation "Last Judgement".
I think the underground metal scene definitely has strong real metal bands
while the main metal scene is polluted by trendy or shitty bands. Do you
agree with me ?
Absolutely!! But you can see, it's all commerce.
I really will never understand why people create "hollywood epic metal" or
shit like this. They are no metal bands. And when you have enough, then you
must play it by your own and listen to your own music.
What goal(s) do you want to achieve with METAL INQUISITOR ?
Never being headliner on a gig, so we have much
more time after playing to drink beer and do a little bit nasty.
You will play (played, when you read this) a release concert for the album
in June. Will there be a tour (as an opening band I guess) to support the
album ?
We will do a mini-tour in October with Root and
Desaster through Hamburg, Berlin, Bitterfeld. And in November we play maybe
two gigs in Switzerland. After the release concert of METAL INQUISITOR, I
must be concentrated for the gig in Wacken with METALUCIFER.
There is a limited lp edition to 500 copies of the album. Has the vinyl
the same number of tracks than the cd ? What is your opinion about bands
putting a bonustrack on their lp ?
There will be the same tracks on vinyl like on cd.
Sorry but we've recorded no further song for a bonustrack, but if bands doing
this, it's ok. So vinyl gets much more value.
Thanks a lot for your answers. The last words are yours...
Thanx a lot to be another time in Iron Wolf and
if you have planned to go to Wacken, maybe we can meet... Stay brutal underground!
