BATHORY "Nordland I + II" DoLP Black Mark
After the disaster of the previous album (minus some very good songs as "Lake Of Fire" or "Destroyer Of World"), BATHORY was to avoid the desecration of their name with the following one. And Quorthon succedeed in it by giving what BATHORY knows to play better : epic viking metal. "Norland" isn't an album, but two albums in fact. Two albums with very good songs being epic, majestic or wonderful. My faves are "Nordland", "Great Hall Awaits a Fallen Brother", "Mother Earth Father Thunder" from Part 1, and "Vinland", "Flash Of The Silver Hammer", "Wheel Of Sun" from Part 2. I think Part 2 is a little inferior to Part 1, but I really like the two vinyls. I haven't enjoyed as much a BATHORY album since "Twilight Of The Gods" in '91 (okay, there was a masterpiece called "Blood On Ice" released in '96, but as it was recorded in '88...). At last, BATHORY is back with great music !
