ELIXIR "The Idol" LP Cult Metal Classics
A surprising comeback ! And a really excellent album ! The songs are not
new, they were written around 1985/86, alongside the songs that are on the
"Son Of Odin" lp. The band re-recorded the songs in 2003. After the short
intro "The Return", you enter in the components that make the ELIXIR : very
heavy and threatening hammers ("The Idol", "Deal With The Devil", "Playing
With Fire"), anthems with an hook ("Born To Die", "Born Loser"), traditional
and effective pieces ("Moonlight", "The Storm"), pure NWOBHM with magic and
fire ("Devil Rider", "Death Dealer"). Total pure metal like in the good old
days, but the songs still sound fresh. This great album is highly recommended
and support ELIXIR if you want another album in a near future.
