HAMMERHEAD “Will To Survive” CD Cult Metal Classics
In these times of ghosts leaving the crypt, it’s the turn of HAMMERHEAD.
This british band was alive at the beginning of the N.W.O.B.H.M. although
they were not heavy metal, but a hard rock outfit. Their roots are built
on bands like Deep Purple or Uriah Heep. The disc contains nine songs written
between 1979 and 1984. What you get here is twin-guitar attack coupled with
mid-tempo and up-tempo, plus the adequate vocals. Their catchy hard rock
material smokes (“Time Will Tell”, “Lonely Man”, “Crying As I Fall”), and
reveals a heavier direction in their last years with the epic atmospheres
of “Lochinvar” and “Will To Survive”. The in-the-face instrumental
“Heavy Handed” reminds a lot of old AC/DC. None of the tracks is boring,
you quickly enter into their solid hard rock played with balls. As an extra,
you can see a live video of “Lochinvar”, filmed in 1984. This cd is brillant
hard rock.
