METAL CHURCH "A Light In The Dark" CD Steamhammer
Years ago, I was disappointed by the "Masterpeace" cd and I lost interest in the comeback of METAL CHURCH. A friend made me listen some tracks of their new album, and as it has recatched my interest, I bought the cd. "A Light In The Dark" is a very good disc of real metal played with balls. The opener, which is the title track, is a powerful storm. "Beyond All Reason" has strong verses, but unfortunately a weak chorus. The band goes faster with the thundering "Mirror Of Lies". The heavy "Disappear" rocks from hell. "The Believer" mixes heaviness with a dark melody. "Temples Of The Sea" is a great epic semi-ballad. Then, it's time to become crazy with the raging "Pill For The Kill". "Son Of The Son" is a typical METAL CHURCH track like in their heydays, which means it's excellent. "More Than Your Master" sounds like a filler. "Blinded By Life" is good and solid. The final track is a 2006 version of "Watch The Children Pray" in tribute to David Wayne. Ronny Munroe is a perfect vocalist for the music of the band. So, it seems the light is back in the METAL CHURCH...
