METAL INQUISITOR "Doomsday For The Heretic" LP (red vinyl) Hellion
Second album by this outfit which has become my favourite german metal band since 1998. Their music is what I call real metal played with balls. Blumi keeps his skill to create and play killer riffs. I won't describe each track, because one has NWOBHM influences, one has Bay Area influences, one has old Mercyful Fate influences, one has old polish metal influences, another one has old german metal influences... The record is varied. But don't make the mistake to think it's a jukebox, as each track sounds 100% METAL INQUISITOR. They are the proof that a band can play Metal rooted in the eighties with a large panel of influences and can achieve to get its own personality. There is no fillers and no weak stracks, each song shreds and bangs your head. I will just precise they did a good job by covering Judas Priest's "Invader", and the bonustrack is a live recording of "Take Revenge". They again unleash a monster album. All power to them !

METAL INQUISITOR "The Apparition" LP Iron Glory
Finally, their first album is out! It has the sound of the eighties but METAL INQUISITOR doesn't sound like a traditional german band. Their roots are mainly in the nwobhm , as you can hear it with kick ass opener "Take Revenge" (with an old Ac/dc-ish guitar riff in the chorus), straight-in-your-face "Get Down", and mindblowing heavy/speed such as "My Sacrifice" and the assault of "Zombie Drivers". There are two songs influenced by old Iron Maiden, with an epic feeling, the majestic "Daze Of Avalon" and the awesome "Bernardo Gui". "Watch The Phoenix Die" is a strong heavy track crossing Exciter ("Heavy Metal Maniac"/"Violence And Force" era) with Motorhead ("Ace Of Spades" days). "Run For Your Life" and "The Duke" are devastating speed metal with a touch of Metallica ("Kill 'Em All" era of course). The album ends with "Czesc! Open Fire" which is a cover of polish Open Fire's "Twardy Jak Skala", a storm of heavy/speed with Blumi singing in polish! Musicianship is great, and vocalist El Rojo gives the better of himself. "The Apparition" is a fantastic masterpiece, and for me, the best album released in the first half part of 2002. Buy or die!
