METAL KNIGHTS The Resurgence Of Swedish Steel 1983-85 LP compilation Stormbringer
Sure, this is not an ordinary compilation, but if most of the compilations were of that kind and that quality... Here, we go back in time, twenty years ago, for a magic travel, only with good and interesting bands. I'm going one by one :
HIGHLIGHT "Pilgrim" : a real heavy/speed storm and a brilliant anthem, really first class, with lead guitar work influenced by early Iron Maiden.
CRIME " Battlefield" : I see their song more like something traditional than like something special, but the energy and the passion these musicians put in the playing of their heavy metal make it worth the listening.
EXIST "Time For a Solution" : although the guitar has a metal sound, their song sounds more heavy rock than heavy metal, but who cares when the quality is here ? That song rocks !
RUBYCON "Out Of The Night" : with this song, we are back to heavy/speed, the melodic way, but without losing the power, they ride the storm...
ACT "Christian Crusaders" : heavy as hell, the warlords unleash the mighty metal, the crusade will never have an end. That song is so great...
KILLERHAWK "Wish Me Well" : good old heavy metal, the way it was meant to be played, with a female vocalist, an enjoyable tune.
NEPTUNE "Enemies" : straight heavy/speed metal in the face, with a powerful vocalist, a brilliant anthem, devastating and memorable.
STORMBRINGER "Voodoo Night" : a common bandname in the eighties, but the band didn't belong to common average, judging by that song which shows crawling heaviness and able to wake the dead, between heavy and doom.
ORIONS SWORD "Atomic War" : awesome epic power metal, that song kills me each time I play it in the stereo, a wonderful attack with force and fury.
SHYLOCK "The Chosen One" : an epic heavy metal anthem to finish this lp which makes hot the metalheart, a very good song.
To finish, the lp is in blue vinyl, and there is a booklet giving infos on each band (with pictures). You will be a fool to miss this great compilation.
