SACRIFICE "Torment In Fire" DoCD Marquee
I don't know if this re-release will change the mind of some dickheads who think SACRIFICE was a Slayer rip-off and hadn't understood "Torment In Fire" was recorded before "Reign In Blood". But we know and we don't care about dickheads. Their first album is total devastating and evil thrash metal. It definitely has ultimate killers with "Sacrifice", "Turn In Your Grave", "Beyond Death", "Burned At The Stake", "Warrior Of Death", "Possession". Maybe it is senseless to quote these tracks, but you know what I mean if you have listened a lot to this record with its raw sound. There is a x-mass of bonustracks with "The Exorcism" demo and a lot of live recordings. Plus the great booklet with lyrics, pics, comments by Rob Urbinati and Joe Rico, biography by Laurent Ramadier. An essential classic for every thrash metal records collection.

SACRIFICE "Soldiers Of Misfortune" DoCD Marquee
Truth is I never found the original record when it was released at the time, because of a very poor distribution. Yes, this re-release was my first experience with their third album. Well, never too late... The first thing I noticed is that the evil/horror side is gone, but the band incredibly matured and developed into a monster of raging thrash metal. The song-writing is more seeked, and the musicianship has become solid and more impressive. The eight tracks rage from the beginning to the end in first class thrash metal. A shame that this album was underrated because of non-existent distribution/promotion. Again it's x-mas with the bonustracks ('89 demo, one '92 outtake, three live recordings from '89-'90). The booklet has the same treatment too (lyrics, pics, comments by band members, bio by Laurent Ramadier). The more I listen to "Soldiers Of Misfortune", the more I like it as much as the first two albums.
