SEASONS OF THE WOLF “Nocturnal Revelation” CD Snakenet
Although less impressive than previous album “Lost In Hell”, this new cd
is still far above average. SEASONS OF THE WOLF plays dark heavy metal which
can be heavy as hell (“New Age Revolution”, “Dead Zone”, “Transmission”),
threatening (“Nocturnal Revelation”, “Starstruck”), bewitching (“Magnetic
Star”, “Skulls”), or just awesome (“Quilex”, “Storm Of The Century”). “Nocturnal
Revelation” is an excellent album again. I said "I hope the band will become
a little more serious about answering their mail", but one more time I have
to say "fuck you to the Post", as the Post lost the mail... Thanks to the
internet thing, the interview with SOTW is now here !

SEASONS OF THE WOLF "Lost In Hell" CD Adrenaline
Good dark epic metal is not dead. Well, the release date on this disc is
1999. I don't know what is wrong or if the label has a strange politic of
distribution, but I only saw this cd in a mailorder from 2001. But let's
talk about this fantastic album. Opener "Lost In Hell" is an hammer taking
you on the wings of fury, the chorus is heavy as hell ! Then you' re entering
into the desperate darkness of "Abandoned City", a strong vision of a lone
man in a city after the nuclear bomb. "S.O.S." is a mix of metal and madness,
very effective. With "Communion", a world of threatening heaviness is calling
you. Will you dare to answer ? Next song is "Interstellar". Its title is
not a lie. It's atmospheric and gives you the desire to travel for a quest.
Back to madness with "Witchfinder", a disguised ballad which is in fact a
great anthem ! I think this song will become a favourite one on stage. It's
time to thrill with "Voo Doo Master", a bewitched tune. Beware, the shadows
of the zombies are dancing around you ! "A Face In The Mist" is a short instrumental
with a terror feeling. Creepy. "Initiation" is an hypnotic song bringing
the storm right between your eyes (don't run, it's too late). Hatred is unleashed
with "Vengeance" and there is no escape. Enemy falls in the trap of torments.
You will remember the brave knight with "One Land One King", even if courage
and honor are not always enough to find what you are searching for. "Land
Of The Dead" is a live track and the way a dark epic tune must be played.
About the influences, I should say CIRITH UNGOL, MANILLA ROAD, WITCHFYNDE
and BLACK SABBATH, but it is not fair to play that game, because SEASONS
OF THE WOLF have their own identity and are original. A keyboardist is in
the band, but don't worry, he fits perfectly to the music and is as important
as the other members. Musicianship is excellent. The voice of Wes Waddell
brings to my mind a cross between Mark Shelton and David Wayne. "Lost In
Hell" is a memorable and outstanding album. I'm sure it will become a classic
in the metal history.
