Awesome! That is the word that comes to the mind after the first listening.
And then, you play the album again... and again... Twelve swords and each
of them is a killer! You feel the blast of the warlike fury ("Lord Of The
Wind", "Black Conqueror"), the heavy and powerful tunes of pagan barbarians
("Stone Giants", "Under The Sign Of Odin's Ravens"), deadly anthems unleashing
hell on earth ("Hussard De La Mort", "King Of Crows"), magic thunders with
an ancient spirit ("Wrath Of North", "Thermopiles"), the force of doom ("Innoxia",
"The Cave"), songs of courageous battles ("Ride Of Templars", "Iron Shadows").
There is an obvious influence from MANOWAR's "Into Glory Ride" / "Hail To
England" era, but WOTAN is not a copycat at all. WOTAN rules! "Carmina Barbarica"
is the strongest heavy metal album of the year 2004, and a wonderful masterpiece
which is epic and which brings glory to steel and iron!
