The words to the song have been translated from an anonymous poem that
became well known in the mid-90s.
The poem read by the dude at the beginning says:
Watashi no oh haka no mae de nakanaide kudasai
(Don’t cry at my graveside)
Soko ni, watashi wa imasen
(That’s not where I am)
Nemutte nanka imasen
(I’m not sleeping)
Sen no kaze ni (sen no kaze) ni natte
(I’ve become the thousand winds)

在红白歌唱大赛中主持人提到这首诗的原作者已经不不可考，不过事实上这首诗非常的有名喔！在国外的葬礼上、或是纪念战争的追思会上往往都可以听到
这首诗被朗诵著。而作者也几乎被认定是在美国马利兰州巴尔的摩市的Mary Elizabeth Frye女士（1905-2004）在1932年所写下的诗，为的是她的好朋友Margaret
Schwarzkopf的母亲过世而写的作品。诗本身并没有名字，因此一般就以其第一句"Do not stand at my grave and
weep"来命名。
然而因为历史久远，这首歌的原词也有2～3个版本，这边我放上我比较喜欢的版本，其实相差不大，不过改个字改个文法，意思就有点不同～

美国发生911事件之后，在一次追悼仪式中，1名11岁的少女在会中读出此诗，以表达她对在911事件中丧生的父亲的追思，又再次的让这首诗受到更多人的注意。
在红白上，木村拓哉以感性的声音缓缓的念出这首诗，在第一次听到男高音秋川雅史徐徐的唱出这首歌时，内心是很激动的！虽知道人终究是逃不过死亡这
一个步骤，一旦我们心里所牵挂的人走到这一个人生的终点时，我们终究还是无法这麼豁达的面对一切。听到这首诗之后不禁想...说不定往生的人都比我们要看
得开呢！
刚好最近新闻里满满的都是有关许玮伦意外过世的新闻，我对许玮伦不熟，但想到她还这麼年轻就因这样不幸的事件葬送了一切，不禁感到惋惜。希望她已化为千风，翱翔在无限宽广的天空里。

The poem, "Do not Stand at my Grave and Weep" was left in an envelope
for his parents by a soldier by the name of Stephens Cummins who at the age
of 24 was killed on active service in Nothern Ireland, when a mine blew
up an armoured car near Londonderry — to be opened in the event of his
death. The poem alludes to those mourning a loved one, and was read in
1995, on the BBC TV on Remembrance Day by Mr Cummins' father. Many assumed
at first that the soldier had written it, but later this proved to be false.
Since then, the true origin still remains a mystery but, there are several
authors that claim authorship: Mary Frye — Gwydion Penderwen — Joyce Fossen
— Albert Spengler. It is also quite possible that Navajo Indians
wrote it.
This poem is hailed in the press as "the most requested poem in the
English language in the past 60 years" and "the poem that takes the nation
by storm."
It has been read at memorials repeatedly over the years, i.e., various
celebrities, and the five astronauts who died in the Challenger space shuttle
disaster.
