AER doubles its quarterly profit (August 7, 2008)






LDK (LDK Solar) 

LDK Solar (LDK 45.82) issued upside guidance for 2009, expecting its revenue to range from $2.8 billion to $3.0 billion as wafer shipments range from 1.45 gigawatts to 1.55 gigawatts.

The company noted it is on pace to expand its current production capacity of 1.0 gigawatts to 1.2 gigawatts by the end of 2008.  It plans to expand capacity to 2.2 gigawatts by the end of 2009 and 3.2 gigawatts by the end of 2010.

ENERGY CONV (ENER) SAYS BIZ STILL STRONG. CREDIT SUISSE KEEPS OUTPERFORM

Solar stocks SunPower Corp. (SPWR, $93.30, $5.79, 6.62%) and Energy Conversion Devices Inc. (ENER, $63.79, $7.33, 12.98%) gained on positive news issued by each company and the Senate passing bill extending a solar investment-tax credit. The measure now heads to the House and could pass as early as this week.
