Hi World,
Today, at 12:20, was portrait day.
My bank had sent out a brochure for a free family portrait for all of the customers as a sort of thank-you for letting us use you money to invest.
Well, I don’t have a family, I don’t have anyone to give it to, but I wanted to do it. I am not going to be all sad all of the time, and maybe my nephew would want one. He shows pictures of me to his buddies and they won’t believe I am his aunt, so the photo can give him more ammo.
Anyway, there I am in bank waiting with some other people. It’s mostly families dressed in elegant casual clothing. And two of them have brought their dogs and one lady has her cat. Man, I am growing sooooooooo jealous, and I am feeling out-of-place, and I am seriously wondering what the hell I am doing here.
One of the dogs is particularly handsome. He is solid gray like the color of the sky when a thunderstorm is ending. I walk over and ask the man if I can pet him (the dog, not the man) and he says “sure.” I tell the man how beautiful his dog is and how I wish I had a dog and I boldly ask him if I could borrow his dog for my portrait (I mean since I am up next I wouldn’t be holding the man up from his schedule or anything.) and he says, “Go ahead. He likes you.”
Just then the receptionist calls my name. I call the dog, his name is Pearl. (Ha! Maybe he is a she. Or maybe the dog is named after gray freshwater pearls.) Pearl is walking beside me then stops dead. The man comes over and encourages Pearl to go with me. He won’t budge. Then the man says, “You can borrow me too.”
So there. In two weeks I will view a portrait of me with a strange man and his dog. I will hang it right in my kitchen. So what if it isn’t real? I am real, the man is real, and the dog is perfect. For one slim moment I have the ideal family.
Ha! That man also has a strange girl is his portrait. That says something nice about him, doesn’t it?

P.S. I see why I was so attracted to that dog. It is my cyberdog!!!!!!!!!!!!!
