ohhh... i laugh.. i must seem like this silliest girl to some ppl out there reading my blog.. heheee.. ranting about oil changes and such. For some ppl like moi it's something that I could care less about so when I actually have to act on it.. i go crazy :P anyhow, thanks to everyone who sent me links and info on tires, service, oil changes and such.. lol.. i appreciate it!!!!
I had my last darkroom class today.. apparently I should be profficient in developing negatives and pictures by now.. however, when I actually started to develop my negatives today (it's been 5 weeks since i've done that), I couldn't remember how much time I needed for the developer & fixer.. hehe.. my teacher was NOT impressed! And the photos that resulted.. let's just say it was a complete waste of 2 hrs.. nothing creative happening today. Went climbing this afternoon.. it's been 2 weeks since i've gone and ohhh.. i feel the pain! My fingertips hurt :(
So the interesting stuff.. I had a very intellectual evening (all by my lonesome self) last night. Started the evening with Atom Egoyan's Ararat.. followed by a National Geographic film called Inside Mecca. As most people I had never heard about the Armenian genocide.. here's a link I found in case anyone is interested... I guess what bothered me the most was a quote from the movie along the following lines:
"Eight days before he invaded Poland in 1939, Hitler exhorted his high command to ''send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women and children'' who stood in the way of German Lebensraum. This directive was given with impunity and had a historical precedent: ''Who today,'' Hitler said, ''remembers the extermination of the Armenians?''
How do we ensure that we don't forget? And in cases like the Armenian genocide.. how do we remain educated and aware of what has happened?
Inside Mecca.. I rented this (thank you Netflix) because I don't really know anything about Islam and I had read that it's one of the fastest growing religions around the world and I wanted to understand why. Check out this list I found.. I wanted to learn more about the pilgrimage and why one would want to do it.. I guess for some it's a spiritual clensing.. a quest for self.. I think we're all on that mission in our own way. Ultimately the movie didn't answer my question of why so many people are adopting Islam.
Tomorrow's my first long run in the 1/2 marathon training schedule.. ahh!
