Cleanse Me

There was nothing but darkness

Memories washed out for so long

Lost faith in the sunlight

Everything about existence was wrong

Shivering in the cold

Clutching knees for desperate comfort

Seeing nothing but the hope for an end

No one is coming to save me

A Prince isn’t waiting just around the bend.

Damp water pouring into the tunnel

Taunting with it’s intent to drown

Simply remain there, and let it soak into you like a blanket of doom

Cleanse me, water, let me die so I can be born anew

Let me forget I learned there was no one here to care

Wash over my feet, send chills up my spine

Make it painful, so I can focus on nothing else

Wash over my mouth and nose, so I can’t breath

I want to slip away, away into the darkness so I can be born anew

I want to wash away every memory that ruined the perfection of my innocence

Cleanse me, water

So I can remember what it felt like to have a smile on my face.
