LINKS TO EDUCATIONAL PAGES THAT CAN BE USED AS RESOURCES FOR EITHER PARENT OR CHILD
Use these sites for resource, look-up, reference purposes. I have not yet checked every site listed here. I know that I can safely say nearly all of them are kid friendly. If you find something that is questionable (and by that I mean links to pornography, any kind of prejudice, etc, please email me and let me know).
Britannica.com- This is self-explanatory. Its the Encyclopedia online.
Carolina Biological - Teamed With Teachers-This site will be linked in two places on my pages because it is both a resource item as well as a product item. Carolina Bio. has wonderful products for you to purchase and use in your home for almost every science experiment out there.
Homeschool Social Register- This is more a parental resource as it allows you to place your name in an online directory with others in your area to help you locate other homeschool moms and dads. I am on it. It is harmless for all those worried about personal information on the net. They keep all your information as confidential as you choose.
Virtual-Egypt - An educational, multimedia resource and community about ancient Egypt-I don't know what to say about this site except "Holy Papyrus, Isis, this place is LOADED!" I am not kidding, the guy who runs this site has almost nearly everything you could ever ask for on Egypt. VERY kid friendly!!
Welcome to AskERIC-"In response to questions we've received at AskERIC, our network information specialists have compiled over 3000 resources on a variety of educational issues. This collection includes Internet sites, educational organizations, and electronic discussion groups.". What more can one say.
Home Education Magazine-"Home Education Magazine is one of the oldest, most respected, and most informative magazines on the subject of homeschooling. HEM is available via subscription, in public libraries, bookstores and on newsstands. Each issue offers the very best interviews, feature articles, regular columns, political commentary and analysis, news reporting and more!"
Discovery Channel- I don't think this site needs any explanation. For anyone who watches the Discovery Channel and any of it's shows, you should already know about this site. It is loaded with information.
The Museum of Questionable Medical Devices-If your child ever asked you just what it was like for gramma and grampa to goto the dentist--this is the site to show them. Devices that would make us cringe were actually used on your parents and even their parents. It is educational in that it offers a glimpse into the past and into the mind of past inventors.
ESPN SportsFigures- Believe it or not- use sports to teach math! Espn shows you how.
