The infamous duo of Groovie Mann and Buzz McCoy are back for another round of eclectic electronic mayhem. Their first studio release in four years Luna stays fairly true to the Thrill Kill sound. Driving disco grooves laced with plenty of noise and sampling creates Thrill Kill's disco, satanic, southern industrial sound that has been attacking listeners' senses since 1987. "Radio Silicon" starts off the album off strong, it's dark edge is only further enhanced by well-placed samples of unimaginable origin. "The Untouchable Class" is a bit of a stylistic letdown, losing some of the TKK groove in favor of a more guitar driven sound. Nevertheless it remains a strong track. "Hour of Zero" swiftly changes the mood to a slow, dark groove that seduces the listener and holds his attention for the length of the song. Truly, this track is one of the gems of this album. While the minimalist groove of this song may turn off some listeners, the masterful vocal delivery creates an undeniable hook. Strongly reminiscent of MC 900' Jesus's "The City Sleeps," "Hour of Zero" is a track that you will be hard-pressed to not repeat rather than go on to the next track. Of course, if you just kept repeating "Zero" you would miss another of the album's standout songs "The Kult Konnection." Blasting forth from the speakers like some Manson Family game show theme, "Konnection" is an astounding track that will leave listeners alternately boogieing and throwing up the horns. If disco had been this good, it wouldn't be dead. "Girl" is a little formulaic, but it does hold its own. Located nearly smack-dab in the middle of the album, "Temptation Serenade" rounds out the top three songs on this LP. Unlike any other album track "Serenade" is a driving, trance-like song that has massive cross-genre appeal. This song is the proverbial jack-of-all-trades. After this track the album seems to wind down a little, perhaps it is the similarity of the backing grooves used, or perhaps a little more variety is in order. However, "Flesh Playhouse, Jungle of Love and Theme De Luna" do serve as points of solidarity and provide a good, strong second half to a CD that no fan of eclectic music should be without.

Summary: A superb release from one of the most original bands ever. A touch formulaic at times, but still a very strong release. 8.5/10
